Proverbs 27:5-6
"An open rebuke is better than hidden love! Wounds from a sincere friend are better than many kisses from an enemy."
True friendship is built always on honest & sincere conversations. The strongest friendships are the ones where you can have the uncomfortable conversations with love, listening without becoming defensive, and speak your truth with kindness. Real friends don’t let misunderstandings grow into bitterness. If something is on your heart, say it. If someone matters to you, make the effort to understand his or her side of the story. Healthy friendships require openness, accountability, forgiveness , mutual respect, not listening or believing rumours, heresays, gossips and willingness to have the conversations that help your friendship grow. At the end of the day, the aim is not to win an argument but to protect the relationship.
Friends who become enemies suddenly after a misunderstanding or disagreement have not been true friends all along. They were just pretending.True and real friends will never suddenly turn against you over some misunderstandings. They will not weaponize one disagreement or wrong doing to start maligning your name in public and immediately abandon years of friendship.True friends will not use a conflict as permission to expose and publish badly about you, or suddenly treat you like a stranger or enemy. Real friends communicate and solve issues amicably. True friends try and work through tension ,value their relationship enough to try and get past the rough hiccups. The small misunderstandings should not create enemity but reveal the truth about your friendship. On the other side, misunderstandings give your friends room to drop the act they have been performing and that means all along they were not genuine friends but were just tolerating you. Some friends will just keep you around for what you are providing but in secret they are resenting you never genuinely caring about you at all.
There are some friendships just conditional and there is a likelihood that condition is that you are not challenging them, never setting boundaries, never doing anything that inconveniences them or threatens their ego.The moment you do it they will show you what has always been underneath in your relationship.Sometimes we sense the fakeness in our friendship but ignore it because we want to believe in the friendship. At times you probably feel like you are working harder to maintain the friendship than your friends do, it happens so because the friendship is not real on their end. Jesus is the only friend who sticks closer than a brother.
I encourage you today not to blame yourself for failing to fix the misunderstanding/disagreement. The friend(s) didn't become your enemy it's just that he/she stopped pretending to be your friend which is not a loss but an eye opener in your life.In conclusion, real friends will work out disagreements/misunderstandings but fake friends use them as exits they long awaited for.God bless you all.
