Mission to Seafarers, Yokohama

Mission to Seafarers, Yokohama The Mission to Seafarers works to provide practical, emotional & spiritual support to seafarers

Founded in 1856, and entirely funded by voluntary donations, today’s Mission to Seafarers offers emergency assistance, practical support, and a friendly welcome to crews visiting over 200 ports around the world. Whether caring for victims of piracy or providing a lifeline to those stranded in foreign ports, we are there for the globe’s 1.5 million merchant seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and

beliefs. We have been working in this great port of Yokohama since the 1880s, and are proud to be of this city. Today, the Mission to Seafarers operates from three ports in Japan – Yokohama, Kobe and Tokyo. Our main task is to welcome the seafarers to our port and to help them in any way that we can, and we also listen for clues that indicate problems on board the ship. Thankfully, most of the ships that come to Yokohama are operated by good companies, but sometimes we encounter problems on the ships. Please pray for us and for our ministry to seafarers, and please also remember the seafarers and their families as they continue to serve us in their work.

Our welfare teams in the Middle East remain operational, and we continue to support abandonment cases, arrange emergency deliveries of food and water to vessels in need, and provide remote welfare assistance where physical access is not possible.

Our teams on the ground in the UAE, Bahrain, Cyprus, and Aqaba (Jordan) are ready to provide practical and emotional support when you need it most.

If you need support or just someone to talk to, help is available.
