Your reminder that the twelve days of Christmas doesn’t start on December 1st; it starts on the day after Christmas Day, marking the first day of Christmastide.
This is why it’s called “on the first day of Christmas”…..”on the 2nd Day of Christmas” and so on

It lasts for 12 days (aka “on the 12th day of Christmas….”) until Twelfth Night, the night of Epiphany, which is when the 3 Wise Men visited the baby Jesus.

So, even in popular culture and Christmas songs, the catholic influence remains strong and deeply embedded in the building of western civilisation
