My friends and I visited Japan back in 2015 and brought my ancestors’ names to the Tokyo Temple to perform ordinances for them. And on that same day, I met the person I would marry in the temple. Fast forward to September 23, 2017, my husband and I visited the Tokyo Temple, days before it closed for renovation. I was also pregnant with our first child during that time.

Now, the Tokyo Temple has opened its doors to the public, and we are very grateful we have had the opportunity to go with our 4-year-old daughter! She shared that her favorite part is the Sealing Room because it is where families are sealed together forever.

I’m grateful for the temples, and the Tokyo Temple always has a special place in my heart. I know that it is the House of the Lord, and when we live true to our covenants, we will receive the promised blessing of eternal families.

2015年の10月、私と友人は日本に旅行に来たとき、先祖の名前を東京神殿に持ち込んで、彼らのために儀式を行いました。そしてその同じ日に、私は神殿で結婚する大切な人に会いました。 2017年9月23日、夫と私は、改修のため閉鎖される数日前に東京神殿を訪れました。その時、私は最初の子供を妊娠していました。

ついに東京神殿が一般公開されました。4歳の娘と一緒に神殿の中に入る機会があったことにとても感謝しています！娘は家族が永遠に一緒に結び固められるので、神殿の中で一番好きな部屋は結び固めの部屋であると教えてくれました。

私は神殿に感謝しています、そして東京神殿はいつも私の心の中で特別な場所です。神殿が主の家であることを知っています、そして私たちが交わした聖約に忠実に生きるとき、私たちは永遠の家族という約束された祝福を受けるでしょう。

When I went on my mission as a missionary, missionaries were trained in the annex next to the temple. Before I left for the place I was assigned to work, I had a chance to actually do missionary work around the temple. After a day of walking around, talking to many people, getting many rejections, and feeling exhausted in mind and body, I was approaching the temple and I saw the temple with the statue of Moroni in the night sky. Not only was it beautiful, but it was also very shining because of its holiness, which was different from the surrounding scenery. I remember feeling the encouragement of God as if He was saying to me, "Welcome home, you did a good job," and my tired legs got strengthened. And now I have a workplace near the temple and I see the statue of Moroni every day when I go to work. Whenever I am tired or find it difficult at work, when I see the temple, I feel the same encouragement from God as I did as a young missionary, and I gain strength from remembering that this is where I can always return to."

In 1980, when I was nine years old, my mother took me to thean open house of the still brand new Tokyo Temple. I was a little nervous because of its dignified appearance. Twenty-five years later, my wife and I were married here in the Tokyo Temple for eternity. Our two sons will be entering the temple in the near future. The temple is a great blessing to our family."

There were no temples yet in Sendai, where I grew up, so when I was a child, my family would leave Sendai in the middle of the night and drive to the temple. I still remember the warm light of the highway seen through the windows of our car, and the excitement and sense of peace I felt at that time lying on the futon which covered the car. The time I spent with my family is an irreplaceable memory .

Temples are sacred places where we can feel close to our deceased ancestors. It is the place where the veil that separates this world from the spirit world, is the thinnest. In the temple, we perform ordinances for our ancestors. I look forward to one day meeting and being embraced by my deceased grandmother.

【神殿エピソード Part2】
「私が育った仙台にはまだ神殿がないので、幼少の頃は、車に乗って家族で神殿に来ていました。夜中に仙台を出発するのですが、布団を敷き詰めた車の窓から見える高速道路の暖かい光と、その時に感じたワクワク感、平安な気持ちを今でもよく覚えています。家族で過ごしたその時間は、掛け替えのない思い出です。

神殿は亡くなった先祖を身近に感じることができる神聖な場所でもあります。霊界という、次の世とこの世を隔てている幕が一番薄くなるところです。神殿では先祖のために奉仕を行います。いつか亡くなった祖母に会い、抱きしめてもらう日が来ることを楽しみにしています。」
