IUJCF Constitution
Article I: Name and Purpose
Section 1
The name of the organization shall be the International University of Japan (IUJ) Christian Fellowship. It chooses to maintain independence from any organization or church external to IUJ so that the group direction may be determined solely by the members, led by the Spirit of God and their consciences. The purpose of IUJCF is to glorify Go
d and to articulate, affirm, and demonstrate the good news of Christ (as described in Article II, Section I) in the IUJ community. Section 2
The mission statement of the Fellowship is as follows: The mission of IUJCF is to unify the Body of Christ in IUJ and bring the gospel to the whole campus. Section 3
This purpose and mission shall be fulfilled by activities which:
a. witness to the Lord Jesus Christ by being excellent in our studies, research, and profession;
b. deepen and strengthen the spiritual life of the members by the study of the Bible, by prayer, worship, fellowship, testimony, gatherings, and discussions; and
c. connect new believers to a local church for baptism and discipleship. Article II: Principles of Faith
Section 1
The principles of faith are as follows:
a. The unique and divine inspiration, integrity, and authority of the Word of God. The Deity and Humanity of our Lord Jesus Christ. The necessity and efficacy of the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ for the world's redemption and the historical fact of His bodily resurrection. The presence and power of the Holy Spirit in the work of regeneration and sanctification. The consummation of the Kingdom in the "glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ." The leadership of this organization must subscribe without reserve to the above principles of faith. Article III: Leadership, Membership, and Participation
Section 1 Leadership
Leaders in this organization shall be continuing students together with advisers. Section 2 Membership
Membership in this organization shall consist of students of the International University of Japan (with IUJ email address) who show a willingness to cooperate in the purposes of the organization. Voting membership consists of members who are actively participating in IUJCF activities. Section 3 Participation
Participation shall be open to IUJ family members, the local community, and others interested and willing to join IUJCF activities. Article IV: Core Team
Section 1
The Core Team shall be composed of the selected first-year and second-year students together with advisers. Section 2
The duties of the Core Team are:
a. The Core Team is responsible for supporting, mentoring, and encouraging all other members of the Fellowship;
b. To carry out the purpose and general policies of this organization;
c. To be responsible for the continuance of this organization as efficiently as possible from year to year;
d. To prepare and ensure transparency to the membership reports (including a financial statement) of the last year's activities; and
e. To conduct monthly meetings for leaders, but an emergency meeting shall be called upon if needs arise. Article V: Nomination and Selection of Core Team
Section 1
The succeeding core team shall be appointed at least one term before the end of the academic year. Section 2
The newly selected core team shall be presented to the entire membership to be prayed for during the mid of the Spring Term. Article VI: Meetings
Section 1
At the end of the final exam's week of the Spring Term, the new Core Team shall meet to prayerfully lay plans for the direction of the Fellowship for the coming year. Section 2
There shall be one meeting for the core team every month. Section 3
Any other activities shall take place as deemed appropriate by the Core Team. Article VII: Constitution and Amendments
Section 1
The Constitution shall be adopted by a two-thirds vote of the members. Section 2
Ratification of an amendment to the Constitution requires two-thirds of the voting membership's vote.
