The KBF Tohoku Relief Team is an open Christ-based group of volunteers serving the people affected by the East Japan Disaster. A core team of enablers from Kurume Bible Fellowship (KBF) provide the necessary organization and logistics to enable individual volunteers from both within and outside our community to undertake relief activities. Location Served
Our activities are currently focused on se
rving in Ishinomaki City, approximately one hour northeast of Sendai in Miyagi prefecture. Activities
We joyfully perform various tasks assigned to our teams by the Ishinomaki Civic Volunteer Center, and reach out to the people we serve. These tasks typically range from clearing flooded houses of mud and dirt, to planting flowers of hope and sharing tears of compassion. Schedule
Our tactical approach is to undertake weekly Saturday trips: "24 Hours in Tohoku". Our teams typically leave Tokyo each week on Friday night, travel up to Ishinomaki for a day of volunteer work, then return to Tokyo Saturday night. This approach provides an effective channel for those who may not have large blocks of time to contribute yet wish to contribute in a meaningful way to the Tohoku Relief effort. Qualifications
A desire to serve and compassion for one's neighbor. "Come to Tohoku with us for a change and be changed for life!"
