Shaykh Hazim Abu Ghazalah was born in 1933 in Nablus (Palestine), and is now currently living in Amman, Jordan where he serves as the Imam, M*
**i and head of the Jam-e-Yatu Darul Quran institution. Shaykh studied journalism at the University of Damascus and thereafter Islamic Sciences and graduated in Shariah (Islamic Law). Shaykh also comes from noble decent whose lineage can be traced directly to the prophet (saw) via his (saw) grandson Imam Hussain (r.a). Whilst at university, Shaykh Hazim was initiated by the late Shaykh Al-Hashimi (r.a), the prominent Shaykh of the Shadhili Soofie order and thereafter continued under the tutelage of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Isa (r.a) of Aleppo. The Shaykh is thus, currently the head of the Qadiri Shadhili Tariqa with many mureeds (students) across the globe including Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Nigeria and South Africa. Shaykh Hazim Hafithullah has written extensively on Tafsir of the holy Quran, jurisprudence and tasawwuf, many of his works are currently prescribed in Baghdad and other universities and colleges. One of the many books which the shaykh has written (translated into English) titled: Illuminating breaths on the 99 names of Allah is available Alhamdulillah as well as the book titled 101 Monotheism. Shaykh is known to fast all year round except for the prohibited days for the past 40years, alhamduliah. Shaykh is also hafithul Quran and completes a khatam every 2nd to 3rd day with a large portions being recited during tahajjud, this irrespective of being at home or abroad. It is narrated by ‘Umar bin al-Khattāb that the Prophet (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said: "Among Allah’s servants there are some who are neither Prophets nor Martyrs but on the Day of Judgement the Prophets and the Martyrs will envy their stations. The Companions asked: ‘O Messenger of Allah, tell us, who are those people?’ He replied: ‘those are the people who love one another on Allah’s count. They are neither related to one another nor do they have any property to exchange. I swear on Allah that they will have faces of light, they will be on pulpits of light. They will not have any fear when others will be afraid, they will not have any grief when others will be aggrieved.’ Then he recited the verse: Beware! No doubt, there is no fear for the friends of Allāh nor shall they be sad and sorrowful. "
