"Dear brothers and sisters, prayer is not an accessory, an optional, but it is a matter of life or death. Only those who prays, in fact, that is those who trust in God with filial love, can enter the eternal life, which is God himself. (Pope Benedict XVI - from the Angelus on March 4, 2007)

«Communion with Him is a being on the go, a permanent ascent to the true height of our calling. Walking with Jesus is at the same time always a walk in «us» of those who want to follow Him. He introduces us to this community. Because the walk to the real life, until a man being conformed to the model of the Son of God Jesus Christ exceeds our own strength, this walk is always also a being carried. We are, so to speak, in a cord with Jesus Christ – together with Him in the climb to the heights of God. He pulls us and sustains us. It’s part of Christ’s sequel that we let ourselves integrate into such a cord; that we accept that we can’t do it alone. Part of it is this act of humility, entering the "us" of the Church; holding on to the rope, the responsibility of communion - not pulling the rope with caparbity and sacrificial. Humble belief with the Church, like being welded in the cord of ascension to God, is an essential condition for the sequel. Part of this being in the group of the rope is not to behave like masters of the Word of God, not to run after a wrong idea of empowerment. The humility of the «being-with» is essential for the rise. It’s also part of it that in the Sacraments we always let ourselves be taken by the Lord’s hand again; that by Him we let ourselves be purified and corroborated; that we accept the discipline of ascending, even if we’re tired.

(Pope Benedict XVI - from the Homily of March 28, 2010, Palm Sunday)

🌟 FIRST SUNDAY OF ADVENT
Gospel: Matthew 24:37–44
Theme: Be Ready, for the Lord Comes When We Least Expect

The First Sunday of Advent opens with Jesus’ powerful call to vigilance. In today’s Gospel, He reminds us that His coming will be sudden—“at an hour you do not expect.” Just as in the days of Noah, people were busy with the normal flow of life, unaware of what was about to happen. Jesus is telling us:

💜 Live with awareness. Live prepared. Live awake.
Advent is not a season of fear, but a season of hopeful readiness. It is a reminder that God enters our lives in unexpected ways—in quiet moments, in hidden blessings, and even in trials that shape our hearts. The true danger is not that the Lord will surprise us; it is that we might be spiritually asleep when He comes.
This Gospel invites us to pause and ask:

✨ “What part of my life have I allowed to drift into spiritual sleep?”
Is it prayer? Gratitude? Charity? Forgiveness?
Advent calls us to wakefulness—
to turn our hearts back to God,
to renew our faith,
to prepare room for Christ not just at Christmas, but every day.

Prayer:
Lord Jesus, awaken my heart to Your coming.
Help me to remain watchful and ready,
not distracted by the noise of the world,
but attentive to Your quiet footsteps in my life.
May this Advent renew my hope and draw me closer to You.
Amen. ✨

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Luke 21:5-19.

While some people were speaking about
how the temple was adorned with costly stones and votive offerings,
Jesus said, "All that you see here--
the days will come when there will not be left
a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown down."

Then they asked him,
"Teacher, when will this happen?
And what sign will there be when all these things are about to happen?"
He answered,
"See that you not be deceived,
for many will come in my name, saying,
'I am he,' and 'The time has come.'
Do not follow them!
When you hear of wars and insurrections,
do not be terrified; for such things must happen first,
but it will not immediately be the end."
Then he said to them,
"Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
There will be powerful earthquakes, famines, and plagues
from place to place;
and awesome sights and mighty signs will come from the sky.

"Before all this happens, however,
they will seize and persecute you,
they will hand you over to the synagogues and to prisons,
and they will have you led before kings and governors
because of my name.
It will lead to your giving testimony.
Remember, you are not to prepare your defense beforehand,
for I myself shall give you a wisdom in speaking
that all your adversaries will be powerless to resist or refute.
You will even be handed over by parents, brothers, relatives, and friends,
and they will put some of you to death.
You will be hated by all because of my name,
but not a hair on your head will be destroyed.
By your perseverance you will secure your lives."

Jesus, hidden in the Monstrance, I come with all my tears and weakness.
You see the wounds no one else can see.
You hear the cries no one else hears.

Take my heart into Your Eucharistic Heart.
Let Your silent love speak louder than my fears.
Hold me, Jesus, and never let me fall away from You.

Amen. 🙏

Morning Prayer

Lord, we thank you for Your continual protection. Thank you for your protecting angels around our home and our family.

Give us strength for this day and fill us with your peace. Pour out your blessings as you have always blessed us.

Thank you Lord, for bringing the word of God every morning to start the day. As we awake to another blessed morning, clear our minds. Fire-up our spirits so that we can be the salt of the earth wherever we go today. Amen

Good Morning everyone

Seewald: How does he see the future of Christianity?

Pope Benedetto: It is clear that our principles no longer coincide with those of modern culture, that the fundamental structure of Christianity is no longer determining. Today there is a positivist and agnostic culture that is showing itself more and more intolerant towards Christianity. Western society, therefore, in any case in Europe, will not be a Christian society and, for the greater reason, believers will have to strive to continue to shape and sustain the consciousness of values and life. A more determined testimony of faith from individual communities and local churches will be important. They will have more responsibility.

Seewald: What does he consider, afterwards, the hallmark of his pontificate?

Pope Benedetto: I would say it is well expressed from the "Year of Faith": a renewed encouragement to believe, to live a life starting from the center, from the dynamism of faith, to rediscover God rediscovering Christ, so to rediscover the centrality of faith

(Pope Benedict XVI - from "Last Conversations", edited by Peter Seewald)

"O Virgin Mary, grant that the recitation of thy Rosary may be for me each day, in the midst of my manifold duties, a bond of unity in my actions, a tribute of filial piety, a sweet refreshment, an encouragement to walk joyfully along the path of duty.

Grant, above all, O Virgin Mary, that the study of thy fifteen mysteries may form in my soul, little by little, a luminous atmosphere, pure, strengthening, and fragrant, which may pe*****te my understanding, my will, my heart, my memory, my imagination, my whole being.

So shall I acquire the habit of praying while I work, without the aid of formal prayers, by interior acts of admiration and of supplication, or by aspirations of love.

I ask this of thee, O Queen of the holy Rosary, through Saint Dominic, thy son of predilection, the renowned preacher of thy mysteries, and the faithful imitator of thy virtues."

Amen.
