TOPIC: DIVINE DELAYS
TODAY'S BIBLE VERSE: JOHN 11:1-43

4 When he heard this, Jesus said, “This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” 5 Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 So when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days, 7 and then he said to his disciples, “Let us go back to Judea.”

EXHORTATION
Must difficult situations in the lives of genuine followers of Christ are merely a setup for the manifestation of God’s awesome wonders that will announce such a man to his generation. There are many times, we think in our hearts or even say it out boldly that God doesn’t answer prayers or He doesn’t love us or He doesn’t love us equally (being partial) because you have prayed, cried and had done everything in your power to get out of a situation and you get heart broken knowing how much you serve God and obey Him, yet your situation remains tough but I have good news for you, the night season will soon be over if you don’t faint (Psalm 30:5, Proverbs 24:10). Do not give up in the face of trials or pressure for it will only prolong the manifestation.

In some cases, like the case of Lazarus, God will first allow people to know some things about you to gossip about, then suddenly the light will come and those who judge your matter behind your back will be surprised (Prov. 23-18).

When Lazarus became sick, Jesus was informed because everyone knew how close Jesus was to Lazarus and his sisters but Jesus didn’t go to see him, He didn’t even pray for his healing, He only said the sickness was not unto death. The closer you are to God, the more God trust you to pass through some challenges that will bring glory to His name without giving up (1Corinthians 10:13), Jesus was sent to die for the world because God knows that this Son of His will not give up at the face of death even when the tough gets tougher (Matthew 27:32-56)

When you find yourself in such situation, people may even mock you like they did when they talked behind Jesus saying He was able to open blind eyes why then couldn’t He keep His friend Lazarus from dying. You must know and believe that the God you call day and night hears you, He has appointed a time for your answer to come that His name alone will be glorified (Isa. 59:1). When the expected turnaround comes, you and everyone around you will know that it can only be God (1 Corinthians 2:9).

Brethren, this is not the time to give up, it is the time to keep praying and thanking God for the privilege of that situation you find yourself knowing fully well that the end is glorious already (Jer. 29:11). God’s plan is for us to succeed and be at the top. He hears and answers our prayers(Luke 18).

PRAYER: My Father, help me to stick to Your plans for my life and not rush out of it in Jesus name.

TODAY'S BIBLE VERSE: MATTHEW 25:35-46

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

EXHORTATION
Every act of kindness towards man is an act of kindness towards Christ. Whenever you treat people badly, always remember, you treat the Lord badly.

According to the bible text today, Jesus talked about how He was fed, clothed, sheltered and helped by men. Can you help the Lord? Can the Lord be stranded? Definitely the answer is NO. God doesn’t need the help of a man to do what He wants to do, it is man who needs the help of God always. Whatever you do for God, you do for yourself because God rewards everyone according to his deeds. “Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.”(Ephesians 6:8)

Jesus said ‘the poor you always have with you…’ (Matthew 26:11), He expects all men to show love to each other. You can’t claim to love if you can’t give because true love gives. For God so loved the world that He gave… (John 3:16).

Christ emphasized so much on loving one another and He said our love for one another will make men know we are His disciples “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” (John 13:34-35)

No matter how much you pray and do other Christian rituals, you have to do the things God commands, “If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.” (1 Corinthians 13:1) Examine your attitude towards people today and repent if you have not been what God says you should be to them. Remember that whatever you do to others, you do to God (Luke 10:30-37). Some people sleep on an empty stomach for lack of food, while some have too much and even throw away. Some can see a dying person right beside them and just walk away without offering help (Luke 10:25-37).

Don’t expect the person you are helping to pay you back, their reward is nothing compared to what God has for you. Help the poor as God has enabled you, treat other people with respect and love so that your Heavenly Father will be pleased with you. The way you treat others can affect your relationship with God. He says whatever you do to them, you do to Him. If you treat people badly and still say you are a child of God, please check very well because one of the major prove that you are a child of God, is to love, which is the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:36-40). God is the rewarder and He will surely reward you (Colossians 3:23-24).

PRAYER: Oh Lord, help me to love like You love and give like You give in Jesus name.

TOPIC: RUN AWAY FROM IDOLS
BIBLE VERSE: DEUTERONOMY 18:9-13

9 When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you, do not learn to imitate the detestable ways of the nations there. 10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, 11 or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. 12 Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord; because of these same detestable practices the Lord your God will drive out those nations before you. 13 You must be blameless before the Lord your God.

EXHORTATION
When we hear idolatry, what comes to mind instantly is craven images and other fe**sh items, then people just conclude, I serve the living God so the topic is not for me.

Idolatry is beyond what you see physically, it is beyond images, idolatry is anything in your heart or life that takes the place of God. Whatever takes you away from God becomes an idol, sin is an idol because it keeps you far from God. Fashion can be an idol as well when it begins to determine your presence in the things of the Kingdom, maybe because you’re not putting on a particular item to match or because you are not putting on your makeup etc. “Dear children, keep away from anything that might take God’s place in your hearts.” (1 John 5:21).

For some, it is the idolatry of bitterness and malice. “Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice.” (Ephesians 4:31) Some it is the cares of this world that occupies their minds. “And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness and cares of this life, and so that Day come upon you unawares.” (Luke 21:34)

“This is what the LORD Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.” (Haggai 1:7) Examine your ways, don’t hide under the disguise of working for God and the applause of men. A man may be doing well in his sight but have you asked yourself how you will look when you stand before the Lord? The high priest Joshua stood before the Lord (maybe in a new garment) but in the presence of God, he was clothed in a filthy garment. ( Zechariah 3:3).

Check how much time you dedicate to God and His business everyday then compare it to the time you spent in seeking entertainment, run if you start noticing the scale is not balanced. We are in a busy world and generation, yet nothing must take the place of God is our lives. This world is a market place and no man goes to the market with an intention to sleep there, every man must return with what he bought or the profit of what he sold. “The world is passing away, and with it its lusts [the shameful pursuits and ungodly longings]; but the one who does the will of God and carries out His purposes lives forever.” (1 John 2:17)

PRAYER: Search me, oh Lord, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting in Jesus name.
