A man once asked Imam al-Sadiq (PBUH):
“Should we greet the Qa’im “Imam Mahdi” with the title ‘Commander of the Faithful’?”
The Imam replied:
“No. That is a title given by God to the Commander of the Faithful “Imam Ali” (PBUH); no one before him or after him is called by it except a disbeliever.”
The man then asked:
“How should we greet him?”
The Imam said:
“Say: Peace be upon you, O Remnant of God (Baqiyyat Allah).”
Then the Imam recited:
۞The remnant of God is better for you, if you are believers۞ (Hud 11:86).

قال رجل للإمام الصادق (عليه السلام): هل نسلم على القائم بإمرة المؤمنين؟
قال: لا ذلك اسم سماه الله أمير المؤمنين لا يسمى به أحد قبله ولا بعده إلا كافر! قال: فكيف نسلم عليه؟
قال: تقول: قال: ثم قرأ الإمام (عليه السلام): " بقية الله خير لكم إن كنتم مؤمنين ".

O Allah, we complain to You of the loss of our Prophet—may Your blessings be upon him and his Household—the absence of our leader, the multitude of those who oppose us, the fewness of our number, the severity of the trials upon us, and the vicissitudes of time against us. So send Your blessings upon Muhammad and his Household, and help us overcome all that with a victory from You that You hasten, a hardship that You remove, a mercy from You that surrounds us, and a well-being from You with which You clothe us, O Most Merciful of those who show mercy.

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا نَشْكُو إِلَيْكَ فَقْدَ نَبِيِّنَا صَلَوَاتُكَ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ وَغَيْبَةَ وَلِيِّنَا وَكَثْرَةَ عَدُوِّنَا وَقِلَّةَ عَدَدِنَا وَشِدَّةَ ٱلْفِتَنِ بِنَا وَتَظَاهُرَ ٱلزَّمَانِ عَلَيْنَا فَصَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِهِ وَأَعِنَّا عَلَىٰ ذٰلِكَ بِفَتْحٍ مِنْكَ تُعَجِّلُهُ وَبِضُرٍّ تَكْشِفُهُ وَرَحْمَةٍ مِنْكَ تُجَلِّلُنَاهَا وَعَافِيَةٍ مِنْكَ تُلْبِسُنَاهَا
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ ٱلرَّاحِمِينَ.
