Who or what is Easter? Where did we get this word from? And where did the customs of Easter come from?
Easter is nothing else than Astarte, one of the titles of Beltis, the queen of heaven, whose name, as pronounced by the people Nineveh, was evidently identical with that now in common use. That name is Ishtar or in english Easter.
In the ancient Chaldean idolatrous Sun-worship, Baal was the sun god, Astarte his consort, or wife and Astarte is the same as Ishtar the fertility goddess of the Philistines, who is depicted with large, bare breasts. The record of Samuel refers.
Ashtoreth in the Scriptures: The prophets speak a very clear word of condemnation regarding the worship of Ishtar: 1Samuel 7:3-4.
"The festival, of which we read in church history, under the name of Easter, in the third or fourth centuries, was quite a different festival from that now observed in the Romish and some Protestant church, and at that time was not known by any such name as Easter. IT WAS CALLED PASSOVER, and was very eagerly observed by Christians . . . . That festival agreed originally with the time of the Jewish Passover, when Christ was crucified. . . . That festival was not idolatrous, and was preceded by no LENT."
The word translated Passover, and the one used in Acts 12:4, is pascha. It means "a passing over" and is used with reference to the Jewish festival of Passover which was celebrated on the 14th of the month Nisan. This same word is used and translated as Passover only in the KJV Acts 12:4.
Easter Eggs: The Easter egg has a pagan origin as well, in short in the time of Augustus, who was skilled in all the wisdom of his native country: "An egg of wondrous size is said to have fallen from heaven into the river Euphrates. The fishes rolled it to the bank, where the doves having settled upon it, and hatched it, out came Venus, who afterwards was called the Syrian Goddess"--that is, Astarte. Hence the egg became one of the symbols of Astarte or Easter; and accordingly, in Cyprus, one of the chosen seats of the worship of Venus, or Astarte (Ishtar), a fertility symbol.
Deuteronomy 12:1-4, 12:31-32.
Easter Bunny: The goddess Astarte earthly symbol was the rabbit, which was also known as a symbol of fertility. Unless it is used to promote the goddess of spring or fertility rites.
What is important is our focus. If our focus is on Christ and not the Easter Eggs and Easter Bunny our children will understand like Santa Claus, the Easter Eggs and Easter Bunny is a merely a pagan symbol.
As with Christmas, Easter should be a time to reflect upon and celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
So shall we say Happy Easter ?? Or .. lol ..
Beloved this time let's Celebrate The Feast of our Risen Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour Who died only for "you and me" that we may have life, life in abundance. God bless you all.
Resurrection Day not Easter. Don't use that word by wishing people. Say happy resurrection Day.
