The shivlinga is a symbol of Shaivism,
and Shiva Himself is its first votary, He leads this Bhakti from the front, showing the way to all who believe in the Goodness of God.

Shiva Parvati vivah!

It was a coming together of being and becoming, of transcendence and manifestation, of yin and yang,It was a fulfillment of creation, the creator and the created, of love and bonding, of togetherness, of godhead and Leela...
The wise understand it as a culminating point of the very birth of prithvilok in particular and the entire Universe in general.

The moment Parvati put the jayamala around Shiva, it was the greatest welcome to God on Earth!
