Temptation may seem harmless, but it will lead to sin, which is not harmless at all. If we confess our sin, we will be forgiven (I John 1:9), but that doesn't mean that we will escape all of the consequences for our sin..

The proof that you are on the right track and "taking up the cross" and following Jesus is that people will discourage you, situations will threaten you , your peers will disown you , sometimes your own family might not appreciate you or even worse all will call you a fake. But remember, these are the exact signs to encourage you that you are on the right path! Keep pressing forward! The finish line is almost there!
