The Dhammika chetiya has been constructed at the place where Ananthalakkhana sutta was delivered by Lord Buddha around 2600 years ago. The chetiya is also considered as a symbolic monument to honour the Dhammacakkappavattana Sutta, the Buddha’s first sermon delivered to the five ascetics at Isipatana (Sarnath). This sermon marked the First Turning of the Wheel of Dhamma and the beginning of the Buddha’s teaching to the world.
