The annual Puri Rath Yatra, also known as the Puri Chariot Festival, is held in Odisha. One of the largest Hindu festivals, the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra 2024, will begin on Sunday 07 July 2024, at the well-known Jagannatha temple in Puri, Odisha, India. The Puri Yatra typically starts on the Dwitiya Tithi (second day) and Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the Moon) in the Hindu month of Aashadha.

Importance:-
One of the most auspicious and anticipated Hindu festivals is the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra, which attracts devotees not only from India but across the world. The grand celebration presents an awe-inspiring spectacle of the god being brought out of the temple amidst the resonating sounds of drums, bells, and conch shells. Lord Jagannath is worshipped as the reincarnation of Lord Krishna, who has chosen this place as his abode in the temple town of Puri in Orissa, along the Bay of Bengal.

Significance:-
* The history of Jagannath Rath Yatra dates back to the 12th century, and its details can be easily found in sacred Hindu texts such as the Padma Purana, Brahma Purana, and Skanda Purana.
* According to beliefs, Lord Jagannath, Lord Krishna, or the Lord of the Universe decided to visit Gundicha Temple on the day, when the Yatra begins. But he didn’t visit it alone; he took his sister Subhadra and elder brother Balabhadra with him.
* Thus, the day is now celebrated each year to mark the day when Lord Krishna took that journey.

वैशाख माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की तृतीया तिथि को अक्षय तृतीया के रूप में मनाया जाता है ।
यह त्योहार धन - समृद्धि की देवी माता लक्ष्मी को समर्पित होता है जिनकी उपासना करने से जातक के जीवन में धन - धान्य , सुख और समृद्धि मिलती है।
अक्षय तृतीया का दिन किसी भी मंगल कार्यों के लिए बहुत ही शुभ दिन माना जाता है और इस दिन सोना , चाँदी के बने आभूषण ख़रीदने का बड़ा ही महत्व है ।
सोने-चाँदी की चीज़ें ख़रीदने से जातक का भाग्योदय होता है और इस दिन जप , दान , पुण्य , ध्यान , कीर्तन अथवा किसी ज़रूरतमंद की सेवा जैसे सत्कर्म अक्षय पुण्य देते हैं।

हिंदू ज्योतिष के अनुसार पूरे वर्ष में तीन दिन ऐसे होते है जो सारे दोषों से मुक्त होते हैं - युगादि , अक्षय तृतीया और विजय दशमी सारे पर आप बिना किसी मुहूर्त देखे भी सभी कार्य संपन्न कर सकते हैं।

अक्षय तृतीया वैशाख माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की तृतीया तिथि पर मनायी जाती है जो की इस वर्ष 10 मई 2024 को मनायी जायेगी ।

अक्षय तृतीया पर क्या ख़रीदें -
माता लक्ष्मी को प्रशन्न करने या माता लक्ष्मी जी का आगमन कुछ ख़रीदने से नहीं बल्कि उनकी स्थिरता उनकी कदर और सदुपयोग करने से बढ़ती है।
मान्यता अनुसार इस दिन सोने-चाँदी की चीज़ या आभूषण ख़रीदना अति शुभ माना जाता है जो अपने साथ जातक का भाग्युदय और भविस्य में सुख और समृद्धि लाती है ।
रुई - धन में वृद्धि
सेंधा नमक - भौतिक सुख सुविधा
मिट्टी का पात्र ( घड़ा , दीपक ) - मानशिक शांति
जौं / पीली सरसों - माता लक्ष्मी का आशीर्वाद
बर्तन या कौड़ी - आर्थिक समृद्धि

ध्यान रखने वाली ज़रूरी बातें -
सेंधा नमक ख़रीदने से धन संपत्ति में बढ़ोत्तरी होती है पर इस दिन सेंधा नमक का सेवन भूलकर भी ना करें।
इस दिन भूलकर भी शाम के बाद झाड़ू ना लगायें।
अक्षय तृतीया के दिन बुजुर्गों और महिलाओं की भूलकर भी अपमान ना करें।
किसी ज़रूरतमंद को ख़ाली हाथ ना भेजें।

•It is said that once Moon God Chandra, who was very handsome and proud of his looks, tried to make fun of Lord Ganesha by making sarcastic remarks. Chandra commented upon the looks of Lord Ganesha saying Ganesha has got big belly and elephant head.

•Hearing all these, the Lord Ganesha decided to punish Chandra to make him realise his mistake and be humble & polite.

•So, Lord Ganesha cursed Chandra saying that no one will worship the moon and whoever looks at the moon will face false allegations and suffer bad name even when innocent.

•Hearing this punishment, Chandra got shattered and devastated; his rudeness and arrogance vanished in a jiffy. Chandra, along with other Gods, started worshipping Lord Ganesha to apologise and appease him again.

•At last, Lord Ganesha was pleased and decided to relieve Chandra from the curse but with a clause. He said human beings can look at the moon on any day except that day of 'Bhadrapada Chaturthi'. He said anyone who sees the moon on Bhadrapada Chaturthi will have to face false allegations.

•Since that day, 'Bhadrapada Chaturthi' is celebrated as Ganesh Chaturthi. Anyone who looks at the moon on Bhadrapada Chaturthi by mistake can worship Lord Ganesha and follow the holy rituals and listen/ recite the story of Ganesh Chaturthi will be relieved from the curse.
