St. Ephrem's Syro-Malabar Catholic Church

St. Ephrem's Syro-Malabar Catholic Church In 1996, the house chapel was elevated as a Mass Centre within the jurisdiction of the main parish church “Church of Our Lady of Graces, Vikaspuri” by Rt. Rev.

The Vincentian Congregation marked its presence in the capital city of India in the year 1987, by establishing a house at A-11 New Krishna Park, Vikaspuri, Delhi under the leadership of Rev Fr Thomas Emprayil V.C (Superior). Ever since it’s beginning, the regular liturgical services in Syro-Malabar Rite were conducted at Vincentian House chapel for the Syrian Catholic followers of the neighborhood

. (specify the name)Archbishop of Delhi. On 1st of July, 2003 the very mass centre was raised to the level of a full-fledged parish and was entrusted to the Vincentian Congregation. The new Parish was named after the great saint, St. Ephrem. The first Parish Priest of the newly established parish was Late Rev. Fr. Joseph Keezhedam VC. Seeing the increasing number of believers coming for the services in the parish, the then Parish Priest Rev Fr Varghese Karingen VC, together with the support and the encouragement from the Superior General of Vincentian Congregation and the Delhi Syro-Malabar Catholic Mission, took a giant step in constructing a bigger church in order to have enough space for the liturgical services. A dream of all those people who are directly and indirectly associated with the parish visualized on 15th August 2008, when His Grace Vincent M. Concessao, the Archbishop of Delhi laid the foundation stone for the proposed church at Shiv Vihar, Near Hastsal, Vikaspuri.

CHRISTMAS TREE CELEBRATIONS 2018!
Merriments of 2018 Christmas for the family of St Ephrem’s Parish culminated with the Christmas Tree Celebrations. As every year, this time too we had a great Christmas Tree Celebration with Carols, personalized special Christmas Gifts to all children in our parish, Tambola with attractive prizes and as usual, a fellowship meal for all. The Christmas Tree Celebrations of our Parish was conducted on Sunday, January 13, 2019. The day began with the Holy Mass solemnized by our beloved Vicar, Rev. Fr Sebastian Moolechalil VC and Fr Benny VC. It was a day of fun and festivities which helped us to renew our fellowship and bonding as members of the family of St. Ephrem’s parish.
The Christmas Tree programmes started with a prayer dance followed with welcome address by the Catechism Head Master Mr Thomas Isac. Special Christmas gifts were distributed to all the children and catechism students and teachers in our parish. The main attraction of the whole programme was the Carols. The performance by the inmates of Jeevodaya Ashralaya, Matru Vedi and the catechism students were marvelous. The nostalgic melodies made many of us to sing along.
The occasion was also used to felicitate our beloved Vicar’s upcoming feast. While our Kaikaran Mr Jose officially greeted Rev. Fr. Sebastian, different faith organizations showered their love and affection through some gifts to our simple and humble Father.
An interactive game Tambola was also conducted and attractive prizes were distributed to the winners.
During the vote of thanks, our vicar reiterated the value of Christian fellowship through such programmes. As the guardian of the family of St Ephrem’s Parish, father expressed his gratitude to one and all selflessly contributed to the success of the programme. The celebrations ended with a fellowship meal. Meticulous planning and perfect coordination of the programmes and diligent volunteers made the whole event a grand success.
The event was organized by the Catechism department to inculcate the real message of Christmas – the carnival of peace, joy and sharing.
