Udangudi (udankudi)- உடன்குடி Udangudi (Tamil: உடன்குடி) is a Panchayat town in Thoothukudi district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. "Kudi" refers to a village or a human settlement.

பெயர்க்காரணம் 'உடன்குடி'

உடன்குடி என்ற சொல் இரண்டு தமிழ் வார்த்தைகளில் இருந்து உருவானது.'உடை'என்பது இந்த ஊரைச் சுற்றி உடை மரங்கள் இருந்தன. 'குடி' என்பது கிராமம் அல்லது மக்கள் கூட்டம்.இந்த இரண்டு வார்த்தைகளும் சேர்ந்து 'உடன்குடி' என்றானது.சிலர் கூறுகின்றனர் இங்கு இந்து,முஸ்லிம்,கிருத்துவ மக்கள் சம எண்ணிக்கையிலும் ஒற்றுமையுடனும் வாழ்வதால் இந்த பெயர் வந்தது. Translation :

Reason for the Name 'Udangudi'

The name Udankudi might have been derived from two Tamil words. "Udai" means the thorny firewood tree (Accacia Sp) which is abundant in that area. The two words when joined together its pronounced as "Udangudi". Some people told, This is the village having equal number of Hindu, Christian and Muslims. They lived here with a close relationship. So it named as 'Udangudi'.
