The main deity of this kavu is Sri Bagavathy in the form of Sri Kurmba. The other deities present in the kavu are Kandakarnan, Bhadra Kali and Kuttichathan. There is also a sthanam(Thara) for Chomappan. It will be brought to the kavu only during the Thalapoli maholsavam, but now due to the dispute between the seva samithi and the Tharawad members Bhimbam ezhunalathu and other ceremonies which are t
o be performed at the tharawad are not being performed, instead they do the cremonies at the commitee office and start the procession from there. Instead of Bhimbam they keep a look alike of the same. The first day of the thalapoli starts with the kodiyettam and then the chompan thalakothu. The chompan will be present at the tharawad house and around the sunset he begins to prepare for the ceremony and enters the nalukettu. One of the male Tharawad member gives veethu (toddy) to the chompan and then he gives blessings to all the family members present there and then starts from there taking the ola kuda in his left hand and the Vallu in his right hand, with the accompany of chenda and other people. He then reaches the kavu and then cuts his head with the vallu and blood will be flowing through his face.He then enters the thirumuttam and makes the pradhakshinam and then enters the kavu. But now the Committee has abandoned the tharawad house and the chomapan starts from a place nearby the tharawad house where they make a makeshift stage. During the second and third day of the ulsavam also various ceremonies ought to be conducted at the tharawad but they are not being conducted at the tharawad. More importance is being given to the the Gurukanmar present at the tharawad. Legend has it that it is the Gurukanmars who through their penance invited devi to their place and then the Bagavthy decided to stay their permanently. Monthly sankrama poojas are being conducted at the nalukettu in the tharaward .Offerings are first made to the Gurukanmars and then to the Bagavathy. The thirunada will be opened only during the sankrama pooja.
