Somewhere, we need to acknowledge that we, as passengers and locals, are also responsible for what is happening.
We are quick to blame Red Bus drivers whenever an incident occurs. However, this video clearly shows how local passengers forcibly crowded into the bus, leaving the driver with no option but to stop the vehicle, switch it off, and step outside.
If you look closely at the front of the bus, there is barely any ground clearance left because of the excessive load. Even after the driver stepped out, the passengers refused to get off. Later, some local drivers arrived to support him and tried to convince the passengers to leave the bus, but neither the men nor the women were willing to cooperate.
This raises an important question: are we putting all the blame on the drivers when passengers themselves are contributing to the problem?
People often ignore local buses and choose Red Buses instead, resulting in severe overcrowding and unnecessary confrontations.
We would therefore request the SSP Traffic to look into this issue seriously. Enforcement should not be limited to Red Bus drivers alone. Vehicles operating with illegal modifications, overloading, and other safety violations should also be dealt with strictly.
At a time when overcrowding is increasingly leading to arguments, clashes and fights, immediate action is needed.
Road safety is a shared responsibility. It is not only the driver's responsibility; passengers and the public must also follow the rules.
