Srinagar August 15: President of People's Democratic Front PDF and Former Cabinet Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen urged Honourable Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and Honourable Chief Minister Shri Omar Abdullah to reopen Doodhpathri and Tosamaidan without further delay and restore hope to central Kashmir.

Hakeem Yaseen said a formal request has already been submitted to both the LG and the CM. He said for more than a year these two gems of Kashmir have remained silent while the families who depend on them have been left voiceless.

"These meadows are not just landscapes on a postcard. For pony men ATV drivers dhaba owners hotel workers transporters and small shopkeepers they are home they are school fees they are medicine and they are dignity. Today that dignity is under threat" he said.

He noted that Doodhpathri was shut temporarily but the temporary has become permanent. Tosamaidan has been closed for over a year. In that time debt has piled up businesses have collapsed and youth have been forced to look elsewhere for work.

"Doodhpathri and Tosamaidan can do what no office job can. They can create thousands of jobs at the doorstep of our villages. They can bring tourists to new areas ease pressure on crowded destinations and put money directly into rural homes" he said.

Hakeem Yaseen said Kashmir’s identity is incomplete without its meadows. "When we open these places we tell the world that Kashmir is safe that Kashmir is welcoming and that Kashmir believes in peace through prosperity. We also tell our own youth that their future can be built here in their own land" he stated.

He added that tourism must not remain limited to a few circuits. True growth will come when we decentralize tourism and let every village with beauty also have a chance at livelihood.

Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen appealed to the administration to take a humanitarian decision and allow activities to resume in both destinations immediately.

He said the administration has the power to turn despair into opportunity and silence into the sound of horses hooves and happy tourists.

*Budgam August 14:• People's Democratic Front PDF President and former Cabinet Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has made an earnest appeal to the administration to ensure comprehensive and foolproof arrangements for the smooth and dignified observance of the annual Urs of Hazrat Syed Aali Balkhi RA at Pakharpora Budgam.

In a statement issued here Hakeem Yaseen highlighted the deep spiritual and cultural significance of the Urs which draws thousands of devotees from across Jammu and Kashmir every year.

He urged the district and divisional administration to put in place all necessary logistical and civic arrangements well in advance to ensure a hassle-free experience for pilgrims as well as local residents.

Hakeem Yaseen specifically called for uninterrupted electricity and safe drinking water supply round the clock for at least 3 to 4 days during the Urs not only at the shrine but also in all adjoining villages that witness a heavy influx of devotees.

"Large congregations during Urs days require continuous basic services to uphold hygiene health and convenience for everyone" he said

He also demanded availability of essential commodities including rice atta sugar kerosene and LPG cylinders.

He further demanded additional ration quota for residents of Pakharpora and adjoining areas to meet the increased demand caused by the pilgrim rush.

Describing the Urs as more than just a religious event Hakeem Yaseen said these gatherings are a living reflection of Kashmir’s rich Sufi and spiritual heritage.

"Such occasions promote communal harmony spiritual reflection and the timeless message of peace and compassion taught by our revered saints. It is the responsibility of the administration to ensure these traditions are observed without any disruption" he stated.

The PDF President urged departments including PDD Jal Shakti FCS and CA Health and Municipal authorities to work in close coordination and deploy dedicated teams to monitor arrangements on the ground.

He also called for mobile medical units sanitation drives and traffic management to be put in place during the event.

Furthermore he appealed to the Wakf Board and local shrine management committees to coordinate with district officials to ensure that all rituals and religious congregations are conducted in an orderly and peaceful manner.

Srinagar, Aug 4: Several public delegations from Khag Khansahib, Beerwah and other areas of district Budgam district on Monday met Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen and apprised him of a wide range of civic issues affecting their respective areas. The delegations urged him to take up their genuine demands with the administration to ensure their early redressal.

The delegations expressed serious concern over the poor condition of roads, inner roads and link roads in several villages, particularly in the Khansahib constituency. They said that many road stretches are yet to be macadamised, causing inconvenience to commuters, students, patients and the general public. The representatives stressed that the remaining road works should be completed before the onset of winter to prevent hardships during the harsh weather. They also called for improved road connectivity in remote and rural areas of Budgam district.

The issue of drinking water shortage also figured prominently during the interaction. The delegations informed Hakeem Yaseen that villages including Chakpora, Khanpora Khag, Labran Khag, Bamrada and several other upper-reach areas of Beerwah and Khansahib are facing an acute shortage of potable water. They said the scarcity has severely affected the daily lives of residents and urged the administration to improve water supply in the affected villages. They also demanded that all pending water supply schemes be completed on a priority basis so that people receive a regular and adequate supply of drinking water.

The delegations further highlighted persistent electricity-related problems in several areas. They complained about erratic power supply and frequent outages, stating that residents continue to face difficulties due to inadequate electricity infrastructure. They also requested the government to announce a one-time amnesty for consumers with pending electricity dues, saying many families are unable to clear accumulated bills due to financial constraints. The delegations appealed for strengthening the power distribution system to ensure reliable electricity supply across the district.

Responding to the issues raised by the delegations, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen assured them that he would take up all their genuine demands with the concerned authorities, particularly the Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, for their early resolution. He said the district administration should ensure that pending road macadamisation works are completed before winter and that drinking water and electricity-related issues are addressed on priority.

Yaseen reiterated his commitment to raising public issues at every appropriate forum and said he would continue to work for the welfare of the people. SRINAGAR, Aug 01:• People's Democratic Front PDF President and former Cabinet Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Saturday condemned the killing of a non-local labourer and the critical injury of another in the Kilam area of Kulgam, describing the attack as "baric" and "inhuman"

In a statement, Yaseen said the violence strikes at the conscience of society.
"This is an act of terrorism. To target two innocent men who came here only to earn an honest livelihood for their families is an act of utter cowardice. Those behind this heinous crime have betrayed not just the law, but the very values of hospitality, compassion and brotherhood that define our society," he said.

Extending heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family's Yaseen prayed for strength to bear the loss and for the speedy recovery of the injured labourer.

"In this hour of pain, the people of Jammu and Kashmir stand shoulder to shoulder with the families of the victims. Their grief is our grief," he added.

The PDF President expressed confidence that security agencies will swiftly identify and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Stop Political Blame Games, Focus on People's Issues: Hakeem Yaseen

Says ruling party must fulfil election promises, opposition should raise public concerns

Calls for urgent attention to floods, unemployment, horticulture and agriculture sectors

Srinagar, July 29: Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Cabinet Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Wednesday said that political parties in Jammu and Kashmir should stop indulging in blame games and instead concentrate on addressing the pressing issues confronting the people.

In a statement issued here, Hakeem said the continuous exchange of allegations and counter-allegations among political parties serves little purpose, as people are fully aware of the role played by different parties whenever they were in power. He said that successive governments have largely followed similar policies that failed to empower the people of Jammu and Kashmir and instead contributed to their political and economic disempowerment.

"There is no need to repeatedly rake up old political narratives merely to score political points. The people of Jammu and Kashmir have seen every party in power and can judge their performance themselves," Hakeem said.

The former minister said that the National Conference-led government must honour the promises it made to the people during the Assembly elections. He stressed that the government should focus on governance and deliver on commitments rather than getting involved in political distractions.

Hakeem expressed concern over the flood-like situation reported from several parts of Jammu and Kashmir following recent rains and urged the administration to ensure timely relief, rehabilitation and preventive measures to safeguard vulnerable areas. He said affected families deserve immediate assistance and long-term solutions to recurring flood threats.

He also highlighted the growing challenge of unemployment, saying thousands of educated youth continue to wait for meaningful job opportunities. The government, he said, must formulate concrete policies to generate employment and create an environment that encourages economic growth and entrepreneurship.

The PDF President further said that the horticulture and agriculture sectors, which form the backbone of Jammu and Kashmir's economy, have suffered significantly due to changing weather patterns, market uncertainties and inadequate institutional support. He urged the government to introduce effective measures to protect farmers, orchardists and other stakeholders whose livelihoods depend on these sectors.

Hakeem also called upon opposition parties to play a constructive and responsible role by consistently highlighting issues affecting common people rather than engaging in political confrontation. "A strong opposition is essential in a democracy, but its responsibility is to raise the concerns of farmers, youth, labourers, traders, employees and every section of society. The opposition must become the voice of the people instead of remaining occupied with political point-scoring," he said.

Reiterating that governance should remain people-centric, Hakeem said the government's priority should be addressing unemployment, strengthening agriculture and horticulture, improving disaster preparedness and ensuring overall socio-economic development across Jammu and Kashmir.

Srinagar, July 27: Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Cabinet Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Monday launched a scathing attack on what he termed the "double standards" of several political leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that they have consistently misled the people by speaking differently in Kashmir and in New Delhi.

Addressing the media, Hakeem said that since 1953, many "so-called leaders" have betrayed the aspirations of the people by maintaining "one language in Kashmir and another in the national capital" to suit their political interests.

Referring to the recent participation of a senior political leader from Jammu and Kashmir in the Jantar Mantar protest over the NEET examination issue, Hakeem said the demonstration was essentially a students' movement and not a political protest.

"Our sympathies are with the students. The youth are the future of our country, and they have every democratic and constitutional right to peacefully express their concerns. Their genuine grievances deserve to be heard and addressed rather than ignored," he said.

Hakeem, however, questioned the contradictory political positions adopted by some leaders, saying that while they participated in a protest outside Jammu and Kashmir, they had, in the past, taken a different stand when similar democratic protests were held in the Valley.

"Some so-called leaders issue statements without reflecting on what they themselves have done in the past. Such contradictory positions have deeply hurt the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and exposed their political opportunism," he said.

The former Minister said such actions create an impression that peaceful protests in Kashmir can easily be branded or labelled according to political convenience, whereas similar demonstrations elsewhere are defended as democratic expressions.

"No society can progress if democratic rights are interpreted differently for different places and different people. The right to peaceful protest is a constitutional right and should be respected uniformly," Hakeem said.

He alleged that certain political leaders continue to justify their actions without considering the long-term consequences of their statements or the message they send to the people.

"Politics driven by vested interests and selective narratives only weakens public confidence in democratic institutions. The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve sincerity, consistency and honest leadership rather than political hypocrisy," Hakeem said.

The PDF President urged all political parties to rise above partisan interests and adopt a consistent approach towards democratic rights, saying that the interests of the youth and the people must always remain above political calculations.

In a statement issued here, Hakeem Yaseen said the youth had repeatedly raised their voices over issues related to the NEET examination, but their grievances were not addressed promptly. "If the concerns of students had been taken seriously at the right time, the unfortunate situation, including the alleged lathi-charge on protesting NEET aspirants, could have been prevented," he said.

He said lakhs of students and their families had gone through immense stress due to the controversy surrounding the examination and deserved justice rather than hardship. He added that timely intervention and responsible decision-making by the authorities could have prevented the crisis from escalating.

Hakeem Yaseen said accountability in the education system is essential, adding that responsibility must be fixed wherever lapses occur. He remarked that the resignation of the Education Minister had become the need of the hour in view of the developments and the concerns raised by students across the country.

Srinagar, July 24: Jammu and Kashmir People's Democratic Front (PDF) President and former Minister Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Friday expressed deep concern over the extensive damage caused by recent heavy rains across Kashmir, particularly in the Beerwah area of Budgam district.

He said the torrential rains and flash floods have caused widespread damage to residential houses, commercial establishments, agricultural land and public infrastructure, leaving several families in distress. He expressed particular concern over the damage caused to the Shopping Complex in Beerwah and other private properties, saying the losses have severely affected the livelihoods of many people.

Hakeem Yaseen urged the Jammu and Kashmir Government to conduct an immediate assessment of the losses and ensure adequate compensation for all affected families. He also called for the rehabilitation of those whose homes, businesses and other properties have been damaged in the recent rains.

Expressing concern over the disconnection of electricity in several parts of Budgam, including Khag, Khansahib and adjoining areas, over non-payment of electricity bills, Hakeem Yaseen said the move has compounded the hardships of people already struggling in the aftermath of heavy rains and adverse weather conditions.

Hakeem Yaseen also appealed to the administration to expedite relief operations, provide financial assistance without delay, restore damaged infrastructure at the earliest and ensure that no affected family is left without support. He also urged people to remain cautious during the ongoing spell of inclement weather and cooperate with the district administration and disaster management authorities.
