اِنَّا٘ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ فِيْ لَيْلَةِ الْقَدْرِ

Indeed, We sent it [i.e., the Quran] down during the Night of Decree.

اَفَلَا یَتَدَبَّرُوۡنَ الۡقُرۡاٰنَ ؕ وَلَوۡ کَانَ مِنۡ عِنۡدِ غَیۡرِ اللّٰهِ لَوَجَدُوۡا فِیۡهِ اخۡتِلَافًا کَثِیۡرًا

Then do they not reflect upon the Quran? If it had been from [any] other than Allah, they would have found within it much contradiction.

You're in the examination hall, months of preparation all boils down to these few moments. You look up at the clock and realise you’re doing fine for the time, you look down at the paper and are quite happy with what you've done so far. But now, you’re stuck on one question, times ticking and you’re getting nervous, you just can't recall the answer. You look over at Pintu; the cleverest kid in school who happens to be sitting right next to you and in a moment of sheer weakness, you ask him for the answer. Before Pintu can say anything, you feel Mr. Smith breathing down your neck; at that very moment it dawns on you that it’s all over, you're finished. You know you will never get another chance. You’re escorted out of the exam room and expelled from the school. The greatest examination is the examination of life. Allah created us to test which of us is the best in deeds, however, unlike worldly exams Allah's doors of forgiveness are always open. No matter how many mistakes you have made, no matter how many times you've slipped up, our merciful Lord is always ready to give us another chance. All we have to do is sincerely turn back to Him and seek His forgiveness. Never lose hope in the mercy of Allah; He indeed forgives all sins. If you've done wrong and made mistakes, turn back now. Remember, you don't have forever in this examination room. The clock is ticking! Say, 'O Prophet, that Allah says,’ “O My servants who have exceeded the limits against their souls! Do not lose hope in Allah’s mercy, for Allah certainly forgives all sins. He is indeed the All-Forgiving, Most Merciful. Quran 39:53”

Please Read Today's Thought Clearfully.

Your fists are clenched as the doctor goes through your test results. The next few seconds feel like hours, as anxiety surges through your body. He then looks up at you and, after a slight pause, informs you of the worst: “You have stage three cancer, I’m sorry.” How do you feel? It’s all over. As you sit there paralysed with shock and fear, the doctor says, “There’s something you can do to save yourself and it’s guaranteed to work.” How priceless would the next few words be that come out of the doctor’s mouth? How quickly would you act upon his advice? How much would you sacrifice?

Allah informs us of a far greater loss in the Qur’an. He tells us that by the passage of time, all of us are in great loss. We will not only lose out in this life, but we are on the verge of losing our eternal life. Then Allah gives us a lifeline, just like the doctor above. He informs us that there is something we can do to save ourselves: “Believe, do good, advise others to the truth and advise others to practice patience.” What are you waiting for? Act now and act with drive and passion, just like you would act to save your life in the above example. Act now to save yourself from wasting this life and losing your hereafter.

By the passage of time! Surely humanity is in grave loss, except those who have faith, do good, and urge each other to the truth, and urge each other to perseverance. (Qur’an 103)
