The Daityasudan Temple, situated in Prabhas Patan Somnath, stands as a testament to the ancient history of Lord Vishnu worship. Crafted from rare black marble, the idol of Lord Shree Vishnu within the temple is a marvel in itself. Legend has it that the discovery of this divine idol traces back to a dream received by Sompara Brahman Bhatt Vishwambhar Maheswar. In this visionary encounter, Lord Vish
nu Himself instructed the Brahman to unearth the idol from the earth. Thus, the idol found its way to Prabhas, bearing a striking resemblance to those revered in South India. Scholars believe that the idol of Lord Shree Vishnu embodies the ancient form of ChakraMrut Vishnu. Another account dates back to around 1701, where Sompara Brahman Bhatt Vishwambhar Maheswar, from the Shravash gotra, received a divine directive in a dream. Endowed with the sacred task of retrieving the idol from the land, he ensured its installation within the precincts of Prabhas Patan Kshetra, thereby enriching the spiritual legacy of the region. Deeply described in Sandpurand and Prabhas Khand.
