DO YOU WANT TO GET WELL?
Scripture: John 5: 1-9
1. Jesus Sees
John 5:6 - Jesus saw a certain man lying there… The name of the man is a MYSTERY. Nothing about his family or his background is given to us in Scripture.
The only thing said about him is that he "had an illness" (v. 5). He was an invalid, paralysed for 38 years. He was totally dependent upon others for his mobility and personal care.
* His Eyes saw a Miracles of other peoples and His hearts also wants miracle.
* He was not able to get Miracles because he is paralysed and he is not able to walk.
* He needs help from other people to walk but no one come and helped him.
Maybe the reason the Bible does not give us his name is because he had suffered so long that his illness had become his identity. Labels had been affixed to him: cripple, invalid, burden.
Your infirmity has become your identity. It seems that's all there is to your life. You feel like you have a big scarlet letter on your forehead, naming your shame.
Sometimes because of your situation people will call you differently and changed your Identity.
Whatever your infirmity might be,
Maybe, it has blinded you spiritually, crippled you emotionally, and paralyzed your whole life.
You can't move forward or back.
God sees our situation... God wants to change youridentity. DEPEND ON GOD.
He was waiting 38 years for his healing. He has Hope, surely, I will get miracle one day.
One day, the time came for him, Jesus was coming that way and Jesus saw him.
* Jesus Seeing you right now,
2. Jesus Knows
Not only did Jesus see this man, but John 5:6 says Jesus "knew." Jesus knew this man had been a long time in this condition. What concern Jesus must have felt for this man!
Seeing him lying under the colonnade at the House of Mercy, knowing his infirmity and the length of his suffering, Jesus brought him to a moment of truth. He asked him what sounds like the most ridiculous question someone in his condition could hear. Jesus asked him, "Do you want to get well?" (v. 6 NIV).
That question might seem heartless and foolish. But Jesus asks us a pointed question. It is not a multiple-choice, true or-false, or essay question.
He asks us, "Do you want to get well?"
"The man answered to Jesus, Sir, He replied Sir I have no man to help me into the pool when the water is stirred up. While I trying to steps in, other steps down before me." (v. 7).
Do you hear the disappointment, the bitterness, the self-pity in those words?
Maybe you don’t have family members, friends, relatives to help you.
Maybe, you also waiting some great miracles from God to in your life like this man.
Two of the most dangerous emotions to experience and get locked into are bitterness and self-pity. Bitterness is a trap of the devil. He wants you to feel resentful and walk around with a negative mentality.
Self-pity will destroy you: "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen in your life, But Jesus Knows you”
* Surrender your life to Jesus
* Say “Yes” to Jesus
He is a God of Miracle!
Jesus Knows your situation but he is waiting for your answer! Say Yes to Jesus!
3. Jesus Commands
After hearing the man's pitiful words, Jesus responds with three commands. He says, "Rise, take up your bed, and walk" (v. 8 NKJV).
Rise! Get up! You don't need a man; you don't need magical water.
All you need is Me, receive my word and get up!
Jesus said to him, Get up! take your bed mat and walk (v.😎.
Immediately the man healed! He rolled up his mat and began walking (v.9).
* Quit looking for somebody to carry you.
* Quit depending on others for your provision.
* Stop dwelling on the past. It's time to move forward. Walk!
When Jesus says, "Rise," you can get up. Step out in faith today!
* You have been waiting on a man,
* you have been waiting on a movement.
* You have been trapped in your infirmity.
Instead, look to Jesus. Rise, take up your bed, and walk!
John 5:14 - Afterward Jesus found him in the Temple and said to him, “Now you are well; do not sin anymore so that nothing worse happens to you.
“WHEN GOD GIVES YOU A NEW BEGINNING, DON’T REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKE,”
We Exalt you Jesus!!!
