October 23, 2022 marked the springboard of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Diocesan Youth Centre, Archdiocese of Bombay. The grounds St John the Evangelist Church, Marol rocked with over 2000 young people from Bhayander to the furthest stretch of our archdiocese with the youth of Korlai being present. The entrance procession of parish representatives, youth with vocational calling, women religious, Parish Youth Adult Animators, Diocesan Youth Council, Office bearers holding with pride the DYC Flag followed by over 60 Priests and Deacons for the Eucharistic celebration.
Bishop Barthol Barretto in his homily enumerated through real life examples the call of each youth to rise and become a witness in keeping with the theme of Mission Sunday. He urged us to rise up as young people who live out a presence that yells subtly, the Christ Alive reality. Towards the closing of the Eucharist, we were indeed blessed with a blessing and prayer from His Holiness, Pope Francis sent to the Archdiocese and solemnly read out by Deacon Ivan.
Finally an applause meant to reach the heaven by way of our prayers was the formation of a Rosary with balloons making way in the centre isle held high by Youth representatives and finally with a show of solidarity with the Bishop, Dn Ivan, Youth Coordinators and the Office bearers of the DYC, we could see the rise in the air.
