It is heard the one of the close associate of Edappally Raja, who is a Brahmin with some superficial and charismatic power, got deported from Edappally on some issues with the then King and happened to visit Shree Aranmula Parthsarathy Temple. He spend there a long time by worshiping the god and got enlightenment to visit and establish a ‘DEVASTHANAM’ at ‘Peruketta kavu’ later called as ‘Perkattu Kavu’. He then established a Kalari and started a unique way of worshiping god and practicing/teaching ‘ayodhana vidhya’. Later on, by the end of ‘raja dynasty’, the systems related to Kalari came to an end and then onwards this place became a unique place to worship 'Lord Ayyappa'. This temple is associated with two forests (KAVU)to worship Naga gods and goddess. The big one is having sculptures of NAGARAJA AND NAGAMATHA. These sculptures of NAGA GODS are very old and are having similar features with the same at MANNARASALAI AND NAGERCOIL. In Short this temple is a unique place foe worship Lord Ayappa, Ganpathy, Durgadevi, Bhadrakali and Naga God/Godess.
