“Does my faith accept me?”
Ankit asked that question as a teenager, with no one to answer it. This time, he was speaking to future faith leaders who may one day hear it from someone else.
Our founder, Ankit Bhuptani (Ankit Bhuptani), was invited by the National Council of Churches in India to speak on “Understanding Q***rness: The Indic Perspective” with students of theology preparing to lead churches and congregations across the country.
Faith institutions influence how families respond to a q***r child and whether that child finds acceptance within their community. That is why making room for this conversation in theological education matters.
For the Q***r Hindu Alliance, this was an opportunity to listen across traditions, and speak about the dignity and belonging of q***r people.
We are grateful to NCCI for the invitation and to every student who listened with an open heart.
The hope is simple: when someone asks, “Does my faith accept me?”, they find someone willing to listen and respond with understanding.
