Three leaves. One sacred offering.

The Bilva leaf holds a special place in the worship of Mahadeva.

Its three leaflets are traditionally associated with Shiva’s three eyes: the Sun, Moon and Fire. They also represent the three gunas: sattva, rajas and tamas.

The Bilvashtakam reminds us that worship does not depend on grandeur. Even one complete Bilva leaf, offered with devotion, becomes meaningful.

Today is the first Shravan Somwar of 2026.

Across Bharata, devotees begin the day by offering water, milk and bilva leaves to Mahadeva.

Shravan remembers Shiva as Nilakantha, the one who held the deadly Halahala poison in His throat to protect creation. Every jalabhishek becomes a gesture of gratitude, cooling the throat that carries the world’s pain.

May this first sacred Monday bring peace to your mind, strength to your heart and grace to your home.
