১২৯২ খ্রিস্টাব্দে দিল্লি সালতানাত এর সিপাহসালার বাহরাম আইতিগিন জাফর খান গাজী ত্রিবেণী আক্রমন করে । জাফর খানের নির্দেশে তুর্কি সেনা ত্রিবেণীতে প্রচুর গণহত্যা চালায়, হিন্দুদের ধর্মীয় শোভাযাত্রা বন্ধ করে দেয় ও ত্রিবেণীর পালযুগে নির্মিত একটি বিষ্ণু মন্দির ভেঙে দেয় । পবিত্র তীর্থক্ষেত্র ত্রিবেণীধামে জাফর খান হিন্দুদের জমায়েত নিষিদ্ধ করে এবং কুম্ভমেলা বন্ধ করে দেয় ।

এমন সময় বর্ধমানভুক্তির মহারাজা ভূদেব রায় ত্রিবেণী পুনরুদ্ধার ও হিন্দু শাসন প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য যুদ্ধযাত্রা শুরু করেন । ১৩০৫ খ্রিস্টাব্দের মাঘী পূর্ণিমার দিন রাজা ভূদেব রায়ের নেতৃত্ব ১৫০০০ বর্ধমান সেনা ত্রিবেণী আক্রমণ করে । ইটাচুনার কাছে মহানাদের প্রান্তরে রাজা ভূদেব রায় আর জাফর খান গাজীর সাক্ষাৎ হয় । মহানাদের প্রান্তরে বর্ধমান সেনার সাথে দিল্লি সালতানাত এর সেনার প্রবল যুদ্ধ শুরু হয় । এই যুদ্ধে মহারাজা ভূদেব রায় দিল্লির সেনাকে পরাস্ত করেন ও জাফর খান গাজীর মুণ্ডচ্ছেদ করে গঙ্গার জলে ভাসিয়ে দেন । বর্ধমানের হিন্দু সেনা ত্রিবেণী ও সপ্তগ্রাম বিজয় করে, ত্রিবেণীধামে পুনরায় হিন্দু শাসন প্রতিষ্ঠা হয় এবং পুনরায় কুম্ভমেলা শুরু হয় ।

Om Namah Shivaya 🕉️

One day, the great god Shiva was meditating in his Himalayan abode, when he was disturbed by the sound of loud music and dancing.

He opened his eyes to see that a group of gopis, or milkmaids, were celebrating the marriage of their leader, Radha, to the god Krishna.

Shiva was not pleased by this disturbance, and decided to teach the gopis a lesson.

He transformed himself into a handsome young man and joined the celebration, claiming to be a servant of Krishna. The gopis were immediately smitten with the handsome stranger, and soon forgot all about Krishna.

This made Krishna jealous, and he decided to teach Shiva a lesson.

Krishna revealed his true identity to the gopis, who were shocked and ashamed of their behavior. They begged for forgiveness, and Krishna granted it, but not before reminding them that Shiva was the true god and that they should worship him instead.

The gopis were deeply moved by this experience, and returned to the Himalayas to worship Shiva.

From that day on, Shiva was worshipped by the gopis, who became known as his devoted followers.

This story illustrates the complex and multifaceted nature of Shiva, who is both a destroyer and a protector, and is capable of both anger and compassion.

It also serves as a reminder that even the great gods have their weaknesses, and that it is important to always seek the truth and to worship the right deity.

Baba Jateshwarnath Shiv Mandir is the oldest Shiva temple of West Bengal. The temple was built by Kumaragupta, son of Chandragupta Maruya 1600 years ago.
