POWER OF FAITH
DAISAKU IKEDA
Mercy and wisdom are two sides of the same coin. To be thoughtful of a friend is to be always filled with thoughts of what you can do for him/her, what that person needs or what is in his/her best interest. Leaders of kosen-rufu must always be filled with new, sensitive thoughts, never forgetting the circumstances of friends.
Please remember to respect and treasure your fellow members. I hope that our Youth Division members in particular, no matter what their positions are in the organisation, will treat all their elders as if they were their parents.

Success is not a matter of accumulating more of this or that; it is not measured in quantity. It means changing the quality of your life. Wealth, power, fame and knowledge alone cannot make you happy, no matter how much of these you acquire. Nor can you take them with you when you die. But by improving the quality of your life you will at last approach true happiness.

"Sometimes we hear phrases like" it's my karma ", which are certainly very funny and colorful, but meaningless.

In fact, when we talk about karma we mean a complex system within which we can distinguish the karmic cause, the karmic tendency and a karmic relationship.

Everything we have done, said or thought, is recorded in our life in the form of a karmic cause.
From the point of view of the ten factors, our actions create an intrinsic power (nyo ze riki) that can manifest externally in the form of a new mental, verbal or physical action (nyo ze sa) that determines an internal cause (nyo ze in ) and a latent effect (nyo ze ka) that when they encounter an appropriate external cause (nyo ze en) becomes a manifest effect (nyo ze ho).

The karmic cause can be heavy or light.
Thanks to the principle of diminishing karmic retribution, through Buddhist practice we can transform the most serious causes and experience a lighter effect.

The karmic tendency is the manifestation of the continuous repetition of actions of the same type.
Karmic tendencies are the inclinations of character, personality, habits, behavior, how to react to external stimuli, talent, etc.

To change the karmic tendency it is necessary to act continuously, consciously and consistently.

For example, to establish the karmic tendency of Buddhahood, we must constantly practice, always doing Gongyo, reciting Daimoku, without neglecting the study, encouraging others, but not forgetting to accomplish our goals and overcome our problems. "

ABSOLUTE HAPPINESS

"Nichiren Daishonin left us the . Through its power the poor can become rich and the sick, healthy. This is still a relative state of happiness and that's all you ever pray for, but eventually before you realise it, you'll be in the absolute state of happiness.

You never pray for absolute happiness, but you enter that state without fail, whether you want it or not. It is the state in which you find your life meaningful, no matter where you are - I repeat, no matter where you are. At any time and in place you'll enjoy living itself. So, wherever you are, there will be bright atmosphere and never any argument. Sometimes you may get angry, but even this you'll be doing pleasantly. Don't you think you'll be delighted to be in such a state?

I close my speech, praying that each one of you will graduate from relative happiness as soon as possible and enter into absolute happiness - a state you never even imagined you could enjoy."
