Diocese of Durgapur, CNI The Diocese of Durgapur, CNI was founded in 1972. It uses the church's moral and spiritual influence to foster positive change.

As a Diocese, we believe in extending our activities beyond the walls of the Church and serving the less fortunate and the marginalized irrespective of caste, colour and creed. The Diocese of Durgapur, a church-based organization, integrates faith-based principles into community development, focusing on compassionate outreach and service. n objective of Diocese of Durgapur is: 1) To serve the less fortunate and the marginalized irrespective of caste, color and creed 2) To raise awareness and prevent human trafficking in the border region of India-Bangladesh. 3) To provide health care and education to the people suffering from pollution and poverty. Our vision has a rich and dynamic heritage along with magnanimous memories. Burdwan, Bankura, Purulia, Midnapore, Malda, Uttar Dinajpur, and Dakshin Dinajpur, districts and consists of 31 pastorates, 209 churches, and a total membership of about 29,948. Also initiated several projects like Anti-Human Trafficking and the Good Shepherd Eye Clinic and Hospital. Our Mission is that aims to reduce poverty through combining value-driven social mobilization of disadvantaged communities and households with investments in assets, skills, basic services, infrastructure, and financial access to improve people’s quality of life.

The Koinonia Cup–2026 Football Tournament, organized and supported by the Anti-Human Trafficking Program under the Diocese of Durgapur (CNI) in collaboration with Kochpara Pastorate, was held on 21 February 2026 at the Kochpara Church Football Ground, Malda. Eight teams—Gangarampur, Kochpara, Balashpur, Kaliaganj, Balurghat–Mokrampur, Birbhum, Shivkrishnapur, and Mostapur Pastorates—participated with great enthusiasm. Balashpur Church emerged as Champions, Birbhum (Rampurhat) became the 1st Runners-up, and Balurghat–Mokrampur secured the 2nd Runners-up position. Klion Kisku of Balurghat–Mokrampur was awarded Best Goalkeeper, while Subodh Tudu of the Rampurhat team received the Best Player award. The tournament was graced by Rt. Rev. Sameer Issac Khimla and Dilip Agarwal, along with his family of Golden Park Hotel, and stood as a joyful celebration of fellowship, unity, and sportsmanship.

A Church Consecration Service was joyfully celebrated at Nabajiban Upasana Griha, Kaliaganj Pastorate, under the Diocese of Durgapur (CNI). The sacred service was led by Rt. Rev. Sameer Issac Khimla, Bishop of Durgapur Diocese, who consecrated the newly built church with prayers and blessings, dedicating it to the glory of God.
During the service, the Bishop delivered a powerful and inspiring sermon based on John 4:21–26, emphasizing that true worshipers are called to worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for God is Spirit. His message encouraged the congregation to live lives rooted in genuine faith and spiritual devotion beyond outward forms.
The service was conducted under the leadership of the Bishop, together with the Presbyter-in-Charge, Revd. Santosh Mardi, and the diocesan clergy. The entire occasion was marked by deep joy, heartfelt thanksgiving, and rich spiritual encouragement as the congregation united in dedicating the new church building to the Glory of God.

A Church Consecration Service was held at Wesleyan Calvary Church, Bhatmura, Raniganj Pastorate, under the Diocese of Durgapur (CNI), where the Rt. Rev. Sameer Issac Khimla, Bishop of Durgapur Diocese, consecrated the new church with prayers and blessings. He also delivered a powerful sermon based on John 4:21-26, reminding the congregation that true worshipers must worship the Father in spirit and truth, for God is spirit. After the holy ceremony, a short time of felicitation was held. The service was led by the Bishop along with Diocesan office bearers Rev. Samual Halder, Rev. Subhedu Saren, Mr. Hemant Marandi, Presbyter-in-Charge Rev. Sumanta Das, and Rev. Rabindranath Ray, Rev. Mukutraj Mondal, and Rev. Dn. Babul Sardar. The entire occasion was filled with joy, thanksgiving, and spiritual encouragement as the congregation dedicated the new church building for the glory of God.

Celebrating 150 Glorious Years of Faith and Service

St. Paul’s Church, Asansol, under the Diocese of Durgapur (CNI), joyfully marked its 150th Anniversary on 25th January 2026. The thanksgiving service was led by the Rt. Rev. Sameer Issac Khimla, Bishop of Durgapur, as the main celebrant, with the gracious presence of Bishop Rt. Rev.O.K. Tirkey. The service was assisted by Rev. Samuel Halder, Rev. Shubhendu Saren, Rev. Kamal Badal Khalko, Rev. Sumanta Das, and Rev. Mukut Raj Mandal, and the sermon was delivered by Bishop Khimla, inspiring the congregation to continue the legacy of faith, witness, and service.

The Diocesan Women’s Council 2026 was prayerfully held on 10–11 January 2026 at the Durgapur Diocesan Campus, centred on the theme “Prepare to meet with your God” (Amos 4:12). The gathering began with Praise and Worship, followed by the inaugural session and lamp-lighting ceremony. The Rt. Revd. Sameer Issac Khimla, Bishop of Durgapur, delivered the welcome address and guided the council throughout. Inspiring theme-based sessions were conducted by Revd. Papiya Durairaj and Revd. Swagata Das. The programme also included interactive discussions and the presentation of All Pastorate WFCS reports.

On the second day, members attended the Sunday Service at the Cathedral, where Bishop preached an encouraging sermon based on the occasion of the Epiphany of Our Lord, followed by Holy Communion. After that officially constituted the Ordinary Diocesan Women’s Council 2026. Administrative sessions, reports, and elections were conducted, leading to the installation of the newly elected DWFCS Executive Committee. The council concluded with Prayer, thanksgiving and benediction, marking a meaningful time of spiritual renewal, unity, and vision for committed service. A blessed milestone for the Diocese of Durgapur (CNI)! On 12th January 2026, the new church building “Jisu Mundil” at Simuldanga Gangarampur Pastorate was joyfully consecrated by our Bishop, The Rt. Revd. Sameer Issac Khimla joined by Presbyters of Dakshin & Uttar Dinajpur Pastorates, Diocesan Office Bearers, and AHT staff. A new house of worship dedicated to God’s Glory!
