WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THE PARABLE OF THE LABORERS IN THE VINEYARD?

Understanding the Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard?

This lengthy parable is found only in the gospel of Matthew. Jesus tells the Parable of the Laborers in the Vineyard (Matt 20:1-16) in response to Peter's question in Matthew 19:27.

Planting, maintaining and harvesting vineyards in first-century Israel was strenuous work requiring hard physical labor in the heat of summer. Often, additional laborers were required to get all the work done.As the day progressed and more workers were hired, the specific wage was not mentioned, but the landowner promised to pay “whatever is right.” Apparently, the workers were sufficiently confident of the landowner’s character that they trusted him at his word.

Altogether, four groups of workers were hired, the last group just one hour before the end of the day. Here the last group just one hour before the end of day- were referring to the Gentiles(Read Acts 10:34-48).

When the time came for the wages to be paid, the first group of workers saw the last group being paid a same one Penny-- The One Penny means - "The Spirit of Christ or the One and only Saving Name of Jesus Christ " ( Read Romans 8:9.,Gal 3:37-29., Acts 4:12,10:43,Lk 24:47,Acts 2:38-47)and were naturally thinking they would be paid more since they had worked the longest. Their anger against the landowner spilled forth when they saw they would all be paid the same "One Penny" even though they got exactly what they had agreed upon when they were hired. The landowner was forced to defend his actions to the first group, even though he had dealt with them in perfect fairness according to the contract.

The landowner, whose decision to pay all the workers the same was an act of mercy—not injustice—represents God, whose grace and mercy are shed abundantly upon those of His choosing. “For he says to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.’ It does not, therefore, depend on man's desire or effort, but on God's mercy” (Romans 9:15-16).

We are all sinful and “fall short of the glory of God” (Rom 3:23), but His grace is sufficient to redeem all- whether The Jews or the Gentiles whosoever obey the Gospel of Christ will inherit the Kingdom of God ( John 3:5.,Mark 16:15-16).Whether God calls someone early or late in life to partake of His grace, the glory and praise for our salvation is His and His alone and in no way amounts to unfairness. Just as the landowner has a right to do what he wishes with his own money, so does God have the right to have mercy on whom He will have mercy.

The First group who were hired as labourers in the Vineyard referrin? to the House of Israel and the last group who just joined as labourers were referring to the Gentiles , just one hour working means they received Christ as their Lord God Almighty and obeyed His Gospel by being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and receiving the Gift of the Holy Spirit (Read Acts 10:34-48).

Jews or Gentiles- whosoever obeyed the Gospel of Jesus Christ by being Baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ will all received the same Spirit of Christ (Acts 2:38, 4:12) -"One Penny" -here refers to the only Saving Name of Jesus Christ (Luke 24:47, Acts 4:12).

The Name Jesus is given for our Salvation under the New Testament whosoever wants to have Eternal Life -must all be born of Water and Spirit (John 3:5) Must obey the Gospel of Jesus Christ by being baptized jn the name of Jesus Christ (According to Acts 2:38 New Testament Plan of Salvation ) Read Acts 10:43-48) Salvation is only through Christ and Only through the Saving Name of Jesus Christ(Acts 4:12).

👉🏻Hence Apostle Peter stated that the lame man at the Gate Beautiful was healed “by the name of JESUS CHRIST of Nazareth” (Acts 4:10). He then explained the Supremacy and Necessity of this Name in receiving Salvation: “Neither is there Salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

👉🏻The Apostle Paul wrote, “.....Given Him a Name which is above every Name... ” (Phil 2:9-10). Because of the Exalted position of this NAME JESUS , we are exhorted to rely upon the name of JESUS in all we do or say: “Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the Name of the LORD JESUS....” (Col 3:17).
👉🏻Therefore, whether we are Jews or Gentiles
We must be BAPTIZE only in the Saving Name of JESUS CHRIST (Acts 2:38, LK 24:47,Acts 10:48,19:2-5,22:16,Gal 3:27).

Jesus Parable of the Cloth & wineskins.
(Luke 5:36-39).
👉🏻Do not mix the Old Covenant with the New 👉🏻Covenant.(Read 2 Cor 3:6-11).

Jesus taught that to put New Cloth on an Old garment would destroy both. To put New Wine (Gospel of Jesus )-into old wineskins(The Old Covenant law)would also destroy both because
The Purpose of the LAW was to bring them Christ (Gal 3:22-27).To try to mix Law and Gospel would effectively destroy both (Read 2 Cor 3:7-11).

JESUS is saying some things just cannot be mixed. When God reveals a new thing, He sometimes wants us to totally forget about the old (Mk 16:15-16.,Gal 3:11-13).

Isaiah 43:18-19 says “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. {See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland".

JESUS- during the Last Supper, spoke of a New (Greek Kainos) Covenant, which is indeed New and not merely an improved extension of the Old.

Mat 26:28) This is my blood of the New Covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.

The big difference between this blood sacrifice and the one in the Old Covenant is that it is only offered once for our sins.

The Old Covenant requires repeated sacrifice of sin and shedding of blood before God would forgive the people of their sins. Read Hebrews 10:14),because by one sacrifice He (ie Jesus) has made perfect forever those who are being made holy (Read Heb 9:28).

In the parable, Jesus is telling us not to be guilty of mixing the OLD COVENANT with the NEW COVENANT.The phrase is from Isaiah 51:6 which states that the heavens will vanish like smoke and the earth will grow old like a garment - this is the Prophecy of the Old Covenant how the Messiah will established the New Covenant (Heb 10:9-12.,Rev 21:2-4.,2 Cor 3;7-11).

THE FIRST COVENANT WAS NAILED ON THE CALVARY:

The Law of Moses or the First Covenant had to be done away before the Law of Christ or the New Covenant could be established. “.... I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.” (Heb 10:9) The Law of Moses, the Old Covenant was done away with or it was completed with the death of Jesus ( Read Col 2:14) The OT Law ended when Jesus died on the tree (Gal 3:11-13).

Consider these truths:

1. Jesus fulfilled the Law and the prophets; when He fulfilled them, they were no longer needed. (Matt 5:17) All of the things that had been written about Christ in the law, Prophets, and psalms were fulfilled when He died on the cross. “.... that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.” (Lk 24:44)

2. Christ fulfilled the Law of Moses. When He fulfilled the law, He took it out of the way. The Law of Moses is no longer to be obeyed. Jesus Christ brought a new law. “And for this cause he is the mediator of the New Testament..... ” (Heb 9:15)


3. The Law of Christ is called the New Testament or the Second Covenant. The Old Law was for Jews only. The New Covenant, the Law of Christ, is for all people. " There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Gal 3:26-28) Christians must live according to the teachings in this New Covenant.

4. We are to abide in the Doctrine of Christ. “Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” (2 Jn 1:9) Things not found in the Doctrine of Christ include animal sacrifice, burning incense, trips to Jerusalem for worship, circumcision, keeping feast days and new moons and keeping the Sabbath Day.

Let us look to JESUS the author and finisher of our Faith; let us never try to go back and live under the Law of Moses. “.... For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” (Gal 5:1-4).

To become a true Christian you must hear the Gospel (Jn 6:44-45), believe in the full Deity of Christ that He is the One True GOD (John 8:24.,5:39-47.,John 14:7-11.,Mk 16:15-16.,Acts 10:43-48),repent off all sins (Lk 13:3), declare Christ as LORD GOD ALMIGHTY (Rev 4:8,1:8,Mtt 10:32-33) and be baptized in Jesus Name to be saved. (Acts 2:38,Mk 16:16) After baptism remains faithful to God. (Lk 10:22,Rev 2:10) The New Covenant was ratified through the blood of Jesus Christ.
Obey Acts 2,:38 & Live Forever (Gal 3:27-29).

The Prophet Jeremiah foretold that the old covenant (10th Commandments and Sabbath & ordinances) would go away one day and be replaced by a new covenant—the Law of Christ (Jer. 31:31-34),“For if the First Covenant had been faultless, then would no place have been sought for a Second…” (Heb. 8:6-13).
The Ten Commandments_which includes the Sabbath at no 4, were given until Christ came. Its purpose was to teach us about righteousness. “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith "(Gal 3:24(.

The Ten Commandments were added because of transgressions, till the seed (Jesus Christ) should come (Gal. 3:19, 16). When God called Moses to Mount Sinai to receive the Law, which was written upon two stone tablets. These where but the beginning of the commandments, statutes and ordinances of God. The grand total of all the commandments given to the people by God through Moses was 613!

Nowhere does the BIBLE say that the Law of Moses was given to people of today, because neither we nor our forefathers were never in Egyptian bondage!The Apostle Paul told Christians in the first century who were being instructed by Jews to keep the Law of Moses, “ye are severed from Christ, ye who would be justified by the law; ye are fallen away from grace” (Gal. 5:4).

Anyone today, who believes they must keep the Ten Commandments & Sabbath is required to keep ALL 613 precepts of that law and covenant (Gal. 5:3). Paul says that if you desire to be justified by the Law of Moses, you are fallen from the grace of God, which is in Jesus Christ.

You can’t have it both ways. Either you obey the Old Covenant given to the Jews, or you obey the New Covenant given to Jews and Gentiles.

The first reaction when hearing that we are no longer under the Ten Commandments is to say, “then it is alright to kill, steal, commit adultery, worship idols, etc.” Just because we are not bound to obey the Old Covenant given to the Jews of long ago, does not grant anyone the right to live immorally.

God has replaced it with a better covenant! All based on a better high priest (Jesus Christ), a better deliverer (Jesus Christ), a better sacrifice (Jesus Christ), a better hope, a better promise, and a better promised land (Heb. 8:6; 9:23; 7:19, 22; 10:34; 11:16, 35, 40; 12:24). Because there has been a change in the Priesthood (Heb. 2:17; 3:1), the Holy Spirit has said that it was necessary to change the Law (Covenant) (Heb. 7:12).The term "Testament" refers to a covenant or an agreement. "New" has reference to being made superior to what it succeeds (2 Cor 3:7-11).In this text in 2 Cor 3:6-11, the New Testament is contrasted with the Mosaic Old Covenant and the Sabbath. The Contrast was made with the words "letter" and "spirit." Both the OT and the NT were expressed in languages that used letter. Of the Old it was said, "The Letter killeth." This was the case because it was a "law of sin and death." The Law identified sin but provided no eternal forgiveness.

The Old Covenant played as important role in God's arrangement of things. However, we must recognize the superiority of the New Covenant as contrasted with the Old. The New Covenant makes us acceptable to God. It is in the New Covenant that "the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith." (Rom1:17) When compared to the New Covenant the Old Covenant has no glory at all. The glory of the First is nothing when compared with the glory of the Second. We do well to remember that the Laws that faded away were those Laws that were written on stone (2 Cor 3:7-11).

The Jews were guilty of unbelief concerning the temporary nature of the Old Law under Moses and the permanent nature of the New Covenant under Christ. Only Christ could take away the covering that kept them from seeing this truth. We must understand that the glory of the Old Law was to be ended under Christ (Col 2:13-17,Rom 10:4-10).Paul said, "When the Law of Moses is read, they have their minds covered over." (2 Cor 3:15) Observe that Paul used the idea of their mind being veiled and then in the next verse the veil is said to be upon their heart.

Will you appreciate Jesus enough that you will receive Him as your only GOD and SAVIOR NOW? To become a true biblical Christian you must hear the true Gospel (Rom 10:17), believe in Jesus as your only GOD (John 8:24), repent of sins (Acts 17:30), confess Christ as Lord (Acts 8:37), and be baptized in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ in order to be saved (Mark 16:16.,Gal 3:27 ,1 Peter 3:21).

Would you rather live under the Ministration of Death, or the Ministration of Life?
May we ever study to show ourselves approved unto God.The New Life in Christ is a glorious and hopeful abundant life!

All False Prophets want to claim that they have God's truth on their side. many rulers and prophets have claimed divine connection or to be divine themselves in order to rob the masses and or to silence all criticism.

In fact the Bible tells us to test them to see if they are truly from God.Jer 23:21 says "I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied".(Read also Jer 27:9-10).

1.Ellen G White:

Ellen Gould Harmon was born on a small farm near the village of Gorham, Maine, on November 26, 1827.In 1846, Ellen married a young Adventist preacher named James White. She died on July 16, 1915, at the age of 87. During her lifetime, she claimed that she had around 2000 visions, had written some 5,000 articles and 40 books.

The Millerrite movement suffered what was dubbed the Great Disappointment when both dates in 1845 did not materialize with the return of Jesus. Many had sold all their belongings to wait for Jesus.

Despite the failures of her predictions in 1844 and 1845, Ellen G White, declared herself a prophetess, due to her visions, which conveniently excused the 1844 date by saying rather than returning, Jesus simply had entered the Heavenly Holy of Holies and had begun an "Investigative Judgment" her visions are allegedly copied both words and pictures, Proof that Whites "I was shown" visions were even copied!,She didn't get it From God!

The SDA have gone as far to quote Ellen G Whites writings over the Bible and have now come out with a new Bible(Clear Word Version) which rewrites myriads of verses that did not back up their Sabbath claims and she insisted that Sabbath observance was necessary to stay saved.

EGW: "..... This seal is the Sabbath. To Those who are receiving the seal of the living God"—Jan 31, 1849, paragraph 11.

NOTE: We revealed here below only a few of her failed prophecies:
She said "I was shown the company present at the Conference. Said the angel: Some food for worms, some subject to the last plagues, some will be alive and remain upon the earth to be translated at the coming of Jesus'" (Vol. 1, p. 131).This statement was made at a 1856 meeting and every one present are now long dead, including Ellen herself in 1915. Obviously, this was a FALSE prophecy.

Ellen G White is definitely a false prophet. More and More People are leaving as they start seeing the truth. We also have all - a List of 100 SDA Pastors fired for rejecting Mrs Ellen G White as prophet or Prophetess!

2.Joseph Smith
(Mormon, Church of Latter Day Saints).

Joseph Smith was born on Dec 23, 1805 in Sharon, Vermont. He started the Mormon church in Oct 1827 in Pennsylvania, after he claimed that he was showed the location of a buried book made of golden plates by an angel Moroni in 1823.

He was killed by a mob that stormed the Carthage Jail in Carthage, Illinois, on June 27, 1844. The attack occurred while he was awaiting trial on charges of inciting a riot and treason.

HIS TEACHINGS:

1) Do preach of other gods (polytheism)
He also teaches that there are a myriad of different gods. And God the Father was made a god by other more ancient gods. The Father in turn made Jesus a god.
👉🏻He taught Jesus and God are two completely different gods and they each have a body of their own. Mormons do not believe in the Holy Spirit is anything more than a presence.

👉🏻He also preached that God the Father had physical union with the virgin Mary to produce a physical body for Jesus.
👉🏻He taught there are many many gods.
👉🏻He taught that God was once a man and so what God currently is, man may become !

1.The Coming of the Lord
He prophesied in 1835 that Jesus would return in 56 years (1891).(History of the Church, Vol. 2, page 182).

2.Temple to be Built in Zion, Missouri
He prophesied on Sept 22 and 23, 1832 that "this generation shall not all pass away until an house shall be built unto the Lord, and a cloud shall rest upon it" in "the western boundaries of the State of Missouri".(Doctrine & Covenants Sect 84).

3.CHARLES TAZE RUSSELL:
He was born on Feb 16, 1852 in Allegheny, Pennsylvania. Russell died on Oct 31, 1916, at age 64 near Pampa, Texas, while returning to Brooklyn by train.He was the founder of a religion that eventually became the modern-day Jehovah's Witnesses!

Prophecies & failure:
Russell predicted that Armageddon would begin in 1914. He believed his teachings were simply the "clear unfolding of truth" at the "due time".
• Rejection of the Deity of Christ also rejected Catho Trinity!
• Belief that Jesus is Michael the archangel and is God's first creation.
• Belief that the Holy Spirit is a force, not person.
• Rejection of an eternal hell.
• Rejection of the bodily resurrection of Christ.
• Intense interest in—even obsession with—the return of Christ.
