You can be right and still be rude.

Islam teaches us that how we disagree matters just as much as what we say.

When a classroom discussion, family disagreement or online debate becomes heated, ask yourself:

Am I listening?
Am I attacking the idea — or the person?
Am I trying to understand — or just trying to win?

Good adab means being able to say:

“I understand your point, but I see it differently.”

You do not have to insult someone to disagree with them.
You do not have to have the last word.
And walking away from a pointless argument is not weakness.

For a Muslim, winning an argument should never come at the cost of character.

What does Islam teach about loving your country?

Patriotism is not only about slogans, flags or speeches. It is also about how we behave every day.

A Muslim can serve society by:

being honest even when nobody is watching;
helping neighbours and classmates;
protecting public property;
refusing to cheat;
saving water and electricity;
treating people of other faiths fairly;
standing against injustice and corruption.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ showed deep love for Makkah and prayed for love of Madinah. Islam therefore recognises attachment to one’s homeland, but it also asks us to turn that love into responsibility.

For students, good citizenship can begin in the classroom, on the playground and in the neighbourhood.
