Panchayatana Puja.
The Secret Verse
Adi Shankara introduced this method for the people. This shloka (verse) is highly authentic and is mentioned in ancient texts like 'Smriti Muktavali':
आदित्यं गणनाधं च देवी रुद्रं च केशवम् । पञ्चदैवत्यमित्युक्तं सर्वकर्मसु पूजयेत् ॥
Adityam Gananatham Cha Devim Rudram Cha Keshavam | Panchadaivathyamityuktam Sarvakarmasu Poojayeth ||
What is its true meaning?

Whatever good deed or ritual you perform, these five deities should be worshipped together:
1. Aditya (The Sun)
2. Gananatha (Ganesha)
3. Devi (The Mother Goddess/Ambigai)
4. Rudra (Shiva)
5. Keshav (Vishnu)

Why is this a 'Grand Alliance'?
Our ancestors didn't say this just for devotion. It is something intertwined with nature. These five deities represent the 'Five Elements' (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space) that govern our world. When you place these five together, a complete 'Energy Field' is created within your home.

The Procedure:
Many people fear that "if there are many idols, there will be too much work." Here is what the Shastras (scriptures) say:
• Size of the Idol: It is enough if the idols are small enough to fit within your fist (palm). That is very auspicious for the home.
• Direction: It is best to sit facing East while worshipping.
• What if there's no time? Just five minutes is enough! It is sufficient to chant the names of each deity and offer the five services (Upacharas): "Sandalwood paste, Flowers, Incense, Lamp, and Food offering" with a sincere heart.
Finally, "Tatra Bhakti Shraddha Gariyasi". That is, your 'faith and devotion' are far more important than any grand, extravagant puja you perform.
"These five deities are equivalent to five important parts of your brain. The Sun represents your intellect, Ganesha your memory, Devi your emotions, Shiva your peace, and Vishnu the movement of your body. When you keep these five together in your puja room (and within your mind), your whole body will function like a grand 'Powerhouse'!"

The 'Five' in the Puja Room: Who should be in the center?
Imagine your puja room as a 'Control Room'. The order in which we place these five deities determines the 'Energy Rhythm' of your home. It’s like a grand 'game of chess.' If you place one deity in the center like a King, the other four act as supports to create a massive force.

Depending on which deity you choose to keep in the center, here is where the others should be placed:

1. If Lord Shiva is in the center (Shiva Panchayatana)
When Shiva is in the center, this is his protective formation:
• North-East (Ishanya): Vishnu
• South-East (Agneya): Ganesha
• South-West (Nirruthi): Surya (Sun)
• North-West (Vayuvya): Devi (Ambigai)

2. If Maha Vishnu is in the center (Vishnu Panchayatana)
To increase administrative skills and wealth, when Vishnu is central:
• North-East: Shiva
• South-East: Ganesha
• South-West: Surya
• North-West: Devi

3. If Surya Bhagavan is in the center (Surya Panchayatana)
To excel in health and knowledge, when the Sun is central:
• North-East: Shiva
• South-East: Ganesha
• South-West: Vishnu
• North-West: Devi

4. If Ganesha is in the center (Ganesha Panchayatana)
To remove obstacles and achieve success, when Ganapathi is central:
• North-East: Vishnu
• South-East: Shiva
• South-West: Surya
• North-West: Devi

5. If Ambigai (Devi) is in the center (Devi Panchayatana)
To increase love and creative energy, when the Mother is central:
• North-East: Vishnu
• South-East: Shiva
• South-West: Ganesha
• North-West: Surya

Why these four corners?
• North-East: This is the entrance for pure cosmic energy.
• South-East: This is the fire corner that provides change and speed.
• South-West: This is the corner that stabilizes and strengthens you.
• North-West: This is the corner that monitors thoughts and transitions.

When you arrange these five deities in this order, the five elements—Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space—within your home begin to work together in harmony.

"This setup is equivalent to the Prefrontal Cortex of your brain. The deity in the center is your 'Firm Intent'. The other four represent your memory, logical reasoning, emotions, and sense of security. If this alignment is correct, your intention becomes incredibly powerful, and other parts of the brain will follow its lead!"
