As I embark on my journey back to Auckland after nearly a decade, my heart swells with a mix of emotions - nostalgia, pride, and a touch of melancholy. It feels like yesterday when I, along with a devoted team of faithful companions, undertook the monumental task of building the first Malankara Orthodox Church in New Zealand.

The memories flood back - the long hours of labor, the shared dreams, the triumphs and challenges we faced together. That beautiful church, our shared creation, stands as a testament to our unwavering faith and dedication. Each brick laid, each prayer whispered, was a labor of love and devotion.

Leaving that sacred altar behind, filled my heart with a profound sense of loss. The bonds we forged, the moments we shared within those hallowed walls, will forever be etched in my soul. And today, as I board the flight back to Auckland, I carry with me a mix of joy and sorrow, eager to once again offer the holy Eucharist in that sacred space.

As I prepare to return to the place where we poured our hearts and souls, I am reminded of the enduring power of faith, community, and shared purpose. Though time has passed, the spirit of our labor lives on in that church, a beacon of hope and love for all who seek solace within its embrace.

With a heart full of gratitude and reverence, I look forward to the sacred privilege of offering the holy Eucharist once more in the presence of cherished memories and enduring faith.

തിരുനെല്ലിയുടെ കഥാകാരിക്കു പ്രണാമം 🙏

കോഴിക്കോട്: എഴുത്തുകാരിയും സാമൂഹിക പ്രവർത്തകയും അധ്യാപികയുമായിരുന്ന പി. വത്സല (84) അന്തരിച്ചു. കോഴിക്കോട് മുക്കം കെ.എം.സി.ടി. മെഡിക്കൽ കോളേജിൽ രാത്രി 11 മണിയോടെയായിരുന്നു അന്ത്യം.

തിരുനെല്ലിയുടെ കഥാകാരിയെന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന വത്സല 1960-കൾമുതൽ മലയാള സാഹിത്യരംഗത്ത് സജീവമായിരുന്നു. മുഖ്യധാരയിൽനിന്ന് അകന്നുനിൽക്കുകയോ അകറ്റപ്പെടുകയോ ചെയ്ത ഒരു സമൂഹത്തെയായിരുന്നു വത്സല തന്റെ കൃതികളിലൂടെ പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചത്. വയനാട്ടിലെ ആദിവാസികളുടെ ജീവിതത്തെ അടുത്തറിയുകയും മുൻവിധികളില്ലാതെ അതിനെപ്പറ്റി എഴുതുകയും ചെയ്ത എഴുത്തുകാരികൂടിയായിരുന്നു അവർ. എഴുത്തച്ഛൻ പുരസ്കാരം, കേരളസാഹിത്യ അക്കാദമി അവാർഡ്, തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി ബഹുമതികൾ ലഭിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.
