Today at sunday school we were going over the lessons New Jerusalem Part 1 and 2. By the end of the lesson, both children and I were feeling overwhelmed about the amount of work that needs to be done for us to become the Bride of Christ.

From being obedient to the spirit of the Lord, growing in the measure of the fullness of the stature of Christ and then being sanctified in spirit, soul and body to living a victorious life overcoming sin, sickness, satan, world and death. The list just kept going.

I had to stop because I could see the quesiness in the face of the teen girls. I told them, imagine you have a boyfriend and immediately their lips curved. He is obsessed with you even though you are not fully there. You guys have been speaking on the phone but haven't met. He always says the right thing and you know you have hit the jackpot with him.

Your love for him is growing despite the long distance and you are able to keep temptations at bay because you know He is worth it and what you have together is a once in a lifetime love. That boyfriend is our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We just have to make an effort to reciprocate His love. Rest He will take care and complete His work in us through grace. So don't worry. Jesus has our back. We prayed and ended the class.

What a gift to study the Word of God. Sometimes it feels like a chore or an unpleasant duty. But what a privilege. What grace. Never take for granted the opportunity to seek the face of the Lord. Thank you Jesus.

These are the notes I took in the funeral service of one of the saints of God.

Unknowingly, i have gathered almost 10 pages of notes and testimonies from witnesses to their immaculate life from their funerals and consolation prayers.

These are the people who have walked on earth loving the Lord with their whole heart, serving Him, choosing Him, honouring Him with everything.

I found there are many common qualities in these notes. Of humility, hiddeness in Christ, service to poor and sick, discernment of spirit, prayer warriors, generosity in spirit and deeds, meekness, wise in all matters and so much more.

It has been a delight revisiting these notes as I know this is the path that I too must walk and these are the qualities that I too must acquire.

To be like Jesus. To become His Bride.

I say this with authority and I say this affection. Jesus is the lover of our soul. You will never find anyone who is invested in loving you as He does.

Run to Him today if you are feeling a little out of love and hold onto him for dear life.

Replace prayer with praise.

God knows what we need even before we say it to him. So write down your needs or bring them to your mind.

Next stand on your knees, lift both hands and praise God with a loud voice and in full surrender.

That's how we should get things done.

King David said this. I stand in awe of his passion and zeal for God. Such a strong, mighty and celebrated king asks God to make him a nobody if he ever forgets the dwelling place of God.

Last couple of weeks I was caught up with the hustle life and suddenly this verse came to me..while I was trying to "upskill" myself, I had forgotten prayer, reading His word and enjoying His presence.

In fact I had the audacity to think Jesus will understand coz He can see I am being busy 'being productive'. The lies Satan makes us believe. 🙅🏽‍♀️

God gave me the grace to immediately repent and confess my shortcomings. He convicted me not to be walking around like busy bodies neglecting my walk with Christ.

The past year I learnt a lot about praying for others because I experienced first hand how others' prayers had blessed me.

Growing up in a devout Christian home, praying was a very integral part of my life but I may have taken it for granted.

Sometimes I'd pray out of duty or to self satiate or out of respect to my family but prayer by definition is coming to the presence of God to humble ourself and know that we are nothing and nobody in front of a great and mighty God.

Prayer is also NOT ranting. The Bible exhorts us to worship with the beauty of holiness and come before Him with fear and trembling, and give thanks with our whole heart.

Dear church, I ask of you to pray for one another because we are expected to, through the divine counsel of God. Simply put, it makes God happy.

We are living in troubled times and trouble seems to be part of our daily life. We are troubled by the big things and the little things, but God tells us not to let our hearts be troubled. 

The Bible says, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid". (John 14:27)

Yes, this is a life giving promise. The word of God has power. His peace gives us inner confidence and the ability to endure and be calm even in the face of extreme turmoil.  Remember, God already knows what we are thinking, yet He wants us to lay our burdens at His feet. It doesn’t matter how big or small our worry is. Therefore, if we take few minutes to talk to God about our troubles and the fears we are facing, He is faithful enough to fill us with His joy and His peace that transcends all human understanding. Amen.
