This Temple is the largest of all the Temples in the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.

The BAPS is a global socio-spiritual organisation committed to the moral and spiritual uplift of mankind. It was established in 1907 CE by Brahmaswarup Shastriji Maharaj in consonance with the Vedic teachings propagated by Bhagwan Swaminarayan (1781-1830 CE). The Santha’s global network of 9,090 Satsang centres (comprising mandirs, chidren’s forums, youth forums, women’s forums and character-build

ing centres) are perennial sources of moral, social, cultural and spiritual activities. The energies of BAPS volunteer corps of 55,000 youths and over 700 sadhus are channelised towards a variety of philanthropic activities that include services in times of natural calamities, water conservation and harvesting projects, primary schools, students’ hostels, hospitals, diagnostic camps, anti-addiction drives, AIDS-awareness and environment-awareness programmes, tribal uplift and literacy campaigns. The BAPS is an NGO in Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. Its world renowned cultural and spiritual complexes like Akshardham in Gandhinagar and New Delhi and Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in London are some of its epoch-making contributions to society. The BAPS, under the inspiration and guidance of Pramukh Swami Maharaj, has earned an endearing and unique place in the hearts of millions throughout the world

એકવાર મહારાજ ઉઘાડા પગે ચાલીને ધમડકા આવ્યા. અને તાબડતોડ જમવાનું માગ્યું. પણ તૈયાર કંઈ પણ ન હતું. એટલે બે ત્રણ ગોરસા દહીના જમી ગયા. પછી રસોઈ બનાવી જમીને કરણીબાને કહે,- "અમારા પગમાં કાંટા વાગ્યા છે તે કાઢોને"
પછી કરણીબા કાંટા કાઢવા બેઠા. તે મોટા મોટા કાંટા નીકળવા માંડ્યા. એ જોઇને કરણીબાના આંખમાં આંસુ આવ્યા હો. અને પ્રેમને લીધે વઢવા માંડ્યા કે, "તું દેહની ભાન રાખતો નથી. ચારેકોર રખડ્યા કરે છે. તારે કેટલા પેટ ભરવા છે તે જંપીને બેસતો નથી. " એમ તુંકારે વઢતા જાય, રડતા જાય ને કાંટા કાઢતા જાય. આમ નાના મોટા અઢાર કાંટા કાઢ્યા.
ત્યારે મહારાજ કહે, "માં ! રસ્તામાં એક બ્રાહ્મણ ઉઘાડે પગે ચાલ્યો જતો હતો, તે જોઇને દયા આવી તે અમારી મોજડી તેને આપી દીધી એટલે કાંટા વાગ્યા. અને મારે તો અનંતના કલ્યાણ કરવા છે તે માં, બેસી રહે કેમ પાલવે !
પછી મહારાજ કહે, તમે આજે મોટી સેવા કરી છે માટે વરદાન માગો. ત્યારે કરણીબા કહે તમે જેતલપુર, ગઢડા, અમદાવાદ વગેરે સ્થળોએ જે જે ઉત્સવો, ચરિત્રો કરો છો તેના દર્શન કરવા મારાથી અવાતું નથી. કારણકે મારું શરીર વૃદ્ધ થયું છે અને બહું દુર થાય છે. માટે એવું વરદાન આપો કે તમે ગમે ત્યાં જે જે લીલા ચરિત્રો ઉત્સવો કરો તેના મને અહી બેઠા બેઠા દર્શન થયા કરે. પછી મહારાજે કરણીબાને નિરાવરણ દ્રષ્ટિ આપી તે ધમડકામાં રહ્યા થકા મહારાજના સર્વે ચરિત્રો પ્રત્યક્ષ દેખે તેમ દેખતા.
