Mid year update: As of August 2011, we have supported seven cancer patients. On of the patients (Mr. John Bosco) passed away in late July. He is survived by his wife, who works as a maid and two daughters. Please pray for the bereaved family.

We are currently providing financial support for two cancer patients: Mrs Muniyamma (aged 60) and Mrs Eshwaramma (aged 44 years). Both of them are from low income background (monthly *family* income of about INR 1500!) and are based on the outskirts of Bangalore. Please pray for them!

Child oncologists in Ahmedabad, non-government organisations working for cancer patients and survivors of the disease will participate in a drive to raise awareness on childhood cancer on February 15, International Childhood Cancer Day.

Today is World Cancer Day. Each year this day, WHO supports International Union Against Cancer to promote ways to ease the global burden of cancer. We hope to support the themes of preventing cancer and raising quality of life for patients through the Sanu Memorial Cancer Aid Fund. Cancer is a leading cause of death around the world. WHO estimates that 84 million people will die of cancer between 2005 and 2015 without intervention.

We are now open to applications for support from cancer patients and their families based in and around Bangalore. We hope to support around two patients this year. Patients from families with monthly income of less than Rs. 20,000 are eligible to apply. Please send us an email if you would like to get the outline of the aid application form and please feel free to pass it on deserving families.
