Caesarea Philippi, is the location where Jesus asked the deciples “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?” And they said, “Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” He said to them, “But who eplied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah! For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven. And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Then he strictly charged the disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ. - Matthew 16:13-20

This temple to the god of Pan (panic) was on the road to Damascus, outside the City of Dan. The large cave was known as The Gates of Hades.

This is a modern military outpost that looks into both Jordan and Syria. The outpost has closed as a military base, but there are others nearby. As of 4 months ago there was live combat taking place in this area of Syria that was observed from this vantage point.

After a busy morning our group from Calvary Christian Fellowship of Tucson took an hour boat ride in the Sea of Galilee, on our way to a nice fish lunch.

Did you know that the Sea of Galilee is the lowest fresh water source in the world? It’s true - look it up

The road from Old Jaffa back to our hotel in Natanya took a little over an hour with traffic. Along the way we saw some interesting sites, but did not take too many photos

One thing I learned is that Israel now had a code that any new apartment/condo structures have to be a minimum of 30 stories. There is not too much available land for the ever increasing population.

Well back to the hotel and yet another great buffet....oh how my diet suffers

The last stop of the day, was the ancient port city of Jaffa, referred to one the Bible as Joppa. This ancient city was first inhabited around 7500 BC.

Here is where Peter was summoned by the Centurion Cornelius, who was up the coast in Caesarea (Acts 10:5) to come and speak with him, as we learned in this mornings Bible Study.

This afternoon Pastor Scot taught from the Old Testament book of Jonah. Pictured is the view Jonah would have had ad he made his way to the port seeking to escape from what God had called him to do.

The book of Jonah is a short, yet powerful read that tells of a man who would rather flee to the far ends of the known world then serve his Lord when called to do so.

In spite of Jonah’s determination to do things his own way, God set him straight and did a great work through Jonah. This reminds me of several blunders in my own life where I wanted to and tried to do things my way but ended up coming back and finally getting it right. Just wished I done what I knew to be right the first time...would have been so much easier on me. Just thankful that God never gave up on me, nor had he given up on you. It’s never too late!
