THE HOOK OF FAITH THIS WEEK

‘For Children with Incurable Diseases’ is Pope Leo’s prayer intention for February as he asks us to join him in praying that children suffering from incurable diseases and their families receive the necessary medical care and support, never losing strength and hope.

The homily for the Fifth Sunday of Ordinary Time reflects on our public vocation as Christians to be salt of the earth and light to the world. One area in which that light and salt are needed is the prevention of Human Trafficking. This Sunday is a dedicated day of prayer for this cause.

We have Pope Leo’s message for the 34th World Day of the Sick which focuses on loving by bearing another’s pain.

We have an article on St Valentine and the sacredness of human love and another on St Scholastica whose feast we celebrate on 10th February.

We have the penultimate episode of ‘The Desert Fathers in a Year’ which again draws from the wisdom of St Benedict who teaches that God doesn’t just illuminate our path but transforms us into His image.
