Beautiful narrative - God is with us!
You came to me, again. In my dream, again. You wore a denim jacket on grey trousers, your beard was bushier this time but your eyes were the same - a perfect blend of fierce, fine and soothing. I could get used to these dreams.
This time, I was in a bus and you were the last passenger to board. I knew the moment you walked in that you'd come to me, that the empty seat beside me would be filled with your warmth.
'What happened this morning is not your fault,' you said.
And for the first time since I exchanged words with my roommate, I felt my heartbeat fall in step with the rhythm of peace. I leaned my head back and your cologne joined the next wave of breath that made its way into my nostrils.
'Then why are you here?' I asked.
You never come without a reason. It's always about something I've done or was about to do. The first time you came, I was about to say yes to George's proposal. You warned me not to. I thought it was just another dream, I didn't need your words and after I said yes to George, things went sour.
The second time you did, I recognised you and it was puzzling because you looked the same. How can one dream of a total stranger again and again? And now I've come to expect you after every incident or before one. I expected you last night. I expected to hear what I should do, I didn't see this coming, this affirmation.
'I'm sorry if I've made it seem like I do not understand your struggles, I do.' you said taking my hands in yours, 'I do.'
I shut my eyes to absorb it all - the sweet feeling of your hands covering mine. The gentle breeze against my face. The ease sipping into me with every word you said.
'You did cross a line though.'
My eyes swung open. When it met yours, all I saw was the characteristic kindness in your brown eyeballs. I relaxed again and you continued.
'You shouldn't have called her mother names. You shouldn't have gone beyond stating how you felt to throwing curses. You're a different species of human. You know this.'
'But...'
'I know. I heard what you said. "I can take any insult thrown at me but if you insult my mother who suffered to raise all six of us without the help of a father, I'll not take it." I heard you.' you said.
'But...' I couldn't speak further, tears formed in the corner of my eyes waiting to ride on my next words.
'I'm just here to show you that you've let evil overcome you. You've conformed.' Even as you spoke this rebuke, your voice was gentle. 'There are no exceptions, no excuses for allowing evil turn you into evil. Even if your ancestor was insulted, it's a bait and you took it. Don't continue in that path. Forgive her, learn your lessons and keep being transformed into the glorious being you are.'
All I could do was nod.
'It's my last time.' You said, and it took a while for the words to sink. 'I don't want you to get used to this, meet me in my word. Read of me, learn of me, see my desire for you and hear me in your spirit.'
When I finally got what you meant, it was over, the bus melted and the cool breeze was wrapped up in the warmth of my room. I opened my eyes to darkness, everywhere was quiet except for the low snore of my roommate lying across the room.
'I'll miss you,' I whispered.
'You don't have to, I'm right here in your spirit.'
