📰 KNOCKLYON NEWS: SUMMER 2026 EDITION IS HERE! ☀️

The Summer Edition of the Knocklyon News is now available to download on the Parish Website (link in comments). The print edition is currently in distribution. Sincere thanks to the volunteer committee members who dedicate many, many hours to ensure each edition captures everything going on in our wonderful parish.

Here is a quick snapshot of what’s inside:

* Parish Updates & Farewells: A look back at Easter and Parish Week celebrations, including a heartfelt farewell interview with Fr. Cyril as he steps into his new role, and a warm welcome to Fr. Adrian as our new Parish Priest alongside Curate Fr. Paul.

This weekend, the second collection at all Masses will be taken up for Peter’s Pence. This is a worldwide collection that supports the charitable work of Pope Leo, the successor of St Peter. Funds from this collection help victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters, as well as to the support of the Holy See. Join with Pope Leo and be a witness of charity to our suffering brethren.

Meitheal, the instinct to rally around those in need, remains central to parish life and Irish identity. This same spirit thrives in the Church where Irish Catholics give more per person to Peter’s Pence than any other major donor nation. Whether helping a neighbour, responding to crises, or supporting the Church’s mission this generosity shows who we are: a people where family, community and living the Gospel in real, concrete ways truly matter.

Please give what you can, and please keep Pope Leo in your prayers.

On Sunday, June 21, the Church across Ireland celebrates Day for Life on the theme The humanity of the unborn child, which invites us to reflect on the wonder of human life from the moment of conception. We remember how the Lord Jesus Christ Himself sanctified and experienced the beginning of life in the world as an unborn child, hidden in the womb of Mary.

Mary knew that she was carrying the Son of God – God and man – as soon as He was conceived. John the Baptist leapt in his mother Elizabeth's womb when Mary greeted her. Our Lady treasured Our Lord in her heart and womb until His birth.

Spirit Hour this Sunday 24th May @ 7pm in the church is a special one for those with upcoming exams. It's a stressful time, and this beautiful hour will fill the soul with gentle music, reflective words, candlelight and stillness.

We wish all students the very best and encourage you to come along.

Well done to Betty, a dedicated volunteer in the parish, who organised the fundraiser for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland during the week. €1,518 was raised on the day and with other donations, the final total should reach almost €1,900. Outstanding generosity! Thanks to SuperValu Knocklyon for sponsoring a hamper prize for the raffle as well and all the volunteers who helped make it such a success.

Rockbrook Park School organised a family pilgrimage to Knock on Saturday which was a wonderful experience for all involved. All the Special Intentions of the Rockbrook Community were remembered during the Rosary and were prayed for again during Mass. This was the first year such a pilgrimage was organised, and will now become an annual event. Some inspiration for other local schools who may be considering similar - the organisers are happy to talk and provide a schedule/plan to help.
