World CLC Vice-E.A. Fr.

Stephan)...

Formation Workshop on “Following the footsteps of St. Ignatius and of St. Francis Xavier as our way of life”.

We have a fruitful formation workshop on 18th October 2025. We were delighted to listen to the sharing of Evelyn and Clement’s experience of Loyola Pilgrimage; Amanda’s experience as delegates representing our community to the Pilgrims of Youth. Moreover, we had a more profound understanding of General Principles #2, time for personal encounter with God and spiritual conversation as One Community. Thanks to the Progressio “Deepening our understanding of the General Principles of CLC”, which guides us to live out our Spirituality as our CLC way of life.

Thanks to a number of our members who have helped in the translation of this Progressio, we now have the Chinese translated version!

To be pilgrims of Hope

Thanks be to God that we had a grace filled annual retreat. This year, we welcome four members from CLC in Macau.
While reflecting on our own experience, we find that God knows when to press our ‘stop’ button, providing an opportunity for us to reflect on ‘where we are going’. ( like the canon ball moment of St Ignatius).

Our late Pope Francis reminded us to be sensitive to the needs of our brothers and sisters, and to create a fraternal culture as a sign of hope for this wounded world.

May all of us treasure the graces we have received during the annual retreat and be ready to join Christ in bringing hope to this wounded world as a community. 💕

Jubilee of Youth at Rome

Amanda Joe represented CLC Hong Kong at the Jubilee of Youth 2025 in Rome, where delegates from different countries came together to celebrate faith, share cultures, and build unity.

Here’s Amanda’s sharing on the experience:

Our journey to the Jubilee of Youth 2025 was so much more than just attending scheduled events—it was a meaningful pilgrimage that changed us. We embraced surprises, discovered God in every step, and shared meaningful moments with others. From camping under the stars at Tor Vergata with half a million other pilgrims to celebrating Mass led by the Pope, we felt the joy and unity of being part of a global Church alive with hope. Whether it was crossing the Holy Doors, singing alongside the crowd during the Saturday concert, or reflecting during the overnight vigil, every experience reminded us of God’s presence and our call to bring hope and love to the world.

Leaving Rome, we feel inspired to share what we experienced and live out the Jubilee’s message of hope. We’re committed to working together within our CLC communities and beyond, bringing light, faith, and compassion to the world around us. This journey reminded us that the future of the Church is in the hands of its youth—and we’re ready to take on that responsibility with open hearts and great hope.

Our last stop — Montserrat 💕

St. Ignatius prayed overnight before the Blessed Mother, the Black Madonna, Our Lady of Montserrat. He finally surrendered his clothes (representing his identity as Indigo) and sword (representing his identity as a knight), and picked up a pilgrim's staff.

The pilgrims from Hong Kong and Macau, along with all pilgrims from around the world, had an ending mass in Montserrat Basilica.

During the mass, the Benedictine priest welcomed us as “Christian Life Community from Hong Kong”. We are grateful that our Ecclesiastical Assistant, Fr. Stephan Rothlin, SJ, was invited to concelebrate the mass and read the gospel in Chinese.

More importantly, the prayer of the faithful nicely included twice a prayer for CLC in Hong Kong and Macau, with its diverse ministries including giving Spiritual Exercises and providing education.

We are all consoled! Thanks be to God! 🥰

Manresa — the source of Ignatian Spirituality

We continue to follow the footsteps of St. Ignatius, arriving at Manresa. St. Ignatius has stayed in the cave near the River Cardoner for 11 months. He wrote the Spiritual Exercises, a great gift to the Church. In his autobiography, he recalled the “Illumination of the Cardoner”: “And while sitting there, the eyes of understanding began to open for him. It was not that he saw a vision, but that he understood and knew many things with such great enlightenment that all things seemed new to him “.

We continue our journey to Xavier, the birthplace of St. Francis Xavier! St. Francis Xavier co-founded the Society of Jesus alongside St. Ignatius. He is regarded as one of the greatest missionaries of modern times. We owe our gratitude to his courage and generosity in responding to God’s call, allowing us to hear the Good News of the Gospel!
