Yendi, Tuesday, 16th December, 2025

The Acting Synod Moderator of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG), Upper Northern Presbytery, The Rev. Dr. F. E. Mawusi, accompanied by the District Pastor of Yendi, Rev. Gbande Nikab Tobias, on Tuesday paid a pastoral and educational visitation to two EP schools within the Yendi Pastoral District.

The visitation began at Bofoto EP School, where the delegation met the Junior High School (JHS) Department. In a gesture aimed at enhancing teaching and learning, the Acting Synod Moderator donated five desktop computers to the JHS department. The Headmaster and members of staff expressed deep appreciation and joy for the timely support, describing the donation as a major boost to academic work, especially in ICT education.

In addition to the computers, the Moderator presented the school with a 2026 wall calendar, which was received with happiness and gratitude.

The team later visited the Primary Department of the Bofoto EP School, where greetings were exchanged with the teachers. A 2026 wall calendar was also presented to the department as a token of encouragement and fellowship.

The delegation then proceeded to the second community, Jinjinabaani, where they met the teaching staff on campus and the Catechist of the EP Church Jinjinabaani in person of Cat. Thomas Binbin. At Jinjinabaani EP School, the Acting Synod Moderator, on behalf of the Presbytery, donated teaching and learning materials to support instruction at the Kindergarten (KG) and Lower Primary levels. The traditional leaders warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed their gratitude, stating that it had been a long time since the church last visited the community. They commended the church for the renewed attention given to schools in the district, describing the visit as a very positive and encouraging step.

A Blessed Visit to EP Church, Borfodo: Moderator Supports Kindergarten with Teaching Materials
14th September 2025

Today was a day of joy and encouragement at EP Borfodo as the Presbytory Synod Moderator of the Upper Northern Presbytery, Rev. Dr. F. E. Mawusi, together with the Yendi District Pastor - Rev Tobias Gbande-Nikab and other church leaders, paid a special visit to the congregation.

During the visit, the Moderator donated much-needed teaching and learning materials to the EP Kindergarten pupils. The items were presented through the Congregation Catechist to the school leadership in the presence of the Headmaster and his Assistant. With a heart of gratitude, the Headmaster thanked the Moderator and shared how these resources will greatly benefit the young children. He further appealed for chairs and additional classroom blocks. The Moderator responded with hope and assurance, noting that such requests are part of the plans in progress.

The day’s blessings did not end there. The Moderator also gave out some clothing with women in the church, putting smiles on many faces. Together with the District Pastor, he toured the school compound and greeted the staff, who were overjoyed by the visit. One teacher even remarked that this was the first time ever a Moderator had set foot in their school.

The visit left both the congregation and the school community deeply encouraged, reminded once again that the church is committed to nurturing both faith and education for the future of our children.

*Subject: Urgent Call for Justice—The Immediate Appointment of Dr. Seidu Anas as Principal of Bimbico Training College of Education*

*Dear Chief Director-General,*

We write with *unwavering resolve and an uncompromising demand for justice* regarding the leadership of *Bimbico Training College of Education.* It is both unconscionable and reprehensible that *Dr. Seidu Anas,* a man who has dedicated *two decades* of exemplary service to this institution, has been unjustly denied the principalship in favor of a politically imposed appointee.

*A Legacy of Dedication and Institutional Stewardship*

Dr. Seidu Anas commenced his *illustrious career* at Bimbico in *September 2005,* demonstrating *unparalleled commitment, institutional acumen, and visionary leadership.* Throughout his tenure, he served under:

1. *Mr. Abdulai Weamah* – A principal whose *18-year tenure* was marked by growth and stability.

2. *Dr. James Ibrahim Gurundoo* – A highly esteemed leader who tragically passed away in an accident after only *two years*. in office.

Following Dr. Gurundoo’s untimely demise, *Dr. Seidu Anas, as Vice Principal, assumed the mantle of leadership,* ensuring the *seamless operation and continued excellence* of the institution. However, in a move that defies the *principles of meritocracy, justice, and institutional continuity,* the government of President *Nana Akufo-Addo callously disregarded his qualifications and service,* instead *installing a politically affiliated individual* whose appointment has sparked *widespread outrage and vehement rejection.*

*An Indisputable Call for Redress*

The *youth, regent, and traditional leaders of Bimbila*—the custodians of the land and the moral conscience of the people — *categorically reject* this imposed leadership. They stand *united, resolute, and unyielding* in their *demand for the immediate removal of the imposed principal* and the *rightful appointment of Dr. Seidu Anas,* a longest serving person whose *unblemished record, institutional knowledge, and pedagogical expertise* make him the unequivocal choice for the position.

To ignore this demand is to *court instability, erode public trust, and subvert the very foundations of fairness and justice.* The people of Bimbila refuse to be *bystanders to injustice.* They will not allow *partisan politics* to override *competence, dedication, and the will of the people.*

*A Plea Rooted in Fairness and Good Governance*

In the spirit of *justice, transparency, and respect for institutional integrity,* we implore your esteemed office to *act decisively and expeditiously* in righting this grievous wrong. The time for *deliberation is over*—the people demand action, and they demand it *now.*

We trust that you will not allow *political expediency to triumph over fairness.* Instead, we implore you to *uphold the fundamental tenets of equity and institutional continuity* by appointing *Dr. Seidu Anas as Principal*—a decision that is not only just but long overdue.

The *eyes of the people of Bimbila, the conscience of the nation, and the annals of history* are watching. Let it not be recorded that when justice called, the Ministry of Education *turned a deaf ear.*

We remain *hopeful yet vigilant,* trusting in your *wisdom, leadership, and commitment to upholding the sanctity of our educational institutions.*

*Yours in the pursuit of JUSTICE*

In a gesture of kindness and solidarity, the Moderator of the Upper Northern Presbytery (UNP), accompanied by the UNP Synod Clerk, donated 69 traveling bags to the students of EP Senior High School (SHS) Saboba on Sunday, March 2, 2025.

This was made possible by the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance which came from Presbyterian Church USA

The donation, which took place at the school's assembly hall, was in response to the recent fire outbreak that ravaged the girls' dormitory, leaving many students without essential belongings.

The Moderator, who was warmly received by the school community, expressed his deepest sympathy to the students and staff affected by the fire. He assured them that the Presbytery was committed to supporting the school during this challenging time.

The students, who were also in attendance, were overjoyed with the donation and expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Moderator and the Upper Northern Presbytery.

The donation of the traveling bags is a testament to the Upper Northern Presbytery's commitment to supporting education and the well-being of students in the region.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, The Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) from The Presbyterian Church, USA, for their generous support in making this donation possible. Your kindness and generosity have brought hope and relief to the students of EP SHS Saboba.
