GREATER WORKS 275
[As it is in Heaven 45]– SECURING ENCOUNTERS (Men that collaborated with God)

"Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants"–Psalms 119:88-91

In case you are new to this study series, I want to bring to your notice that we are considering how the fathers of faith collaborated with Heaven in securing divine encounters. The subject under study in this episode is the Prophet Moses.

Even though the call of God was on his life, he was at work. That qualified him to lead the people of God. Your faithfulness in what you do today prepares you for the assignment of God for your life tomorrow. Have you ever heard the saying: 'If you want to get someone to do something, get someone who is busy'? Well, that is the way God desires it.

Luke 16:10 "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much".
Matthew 25:21 also reads, "You were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord".

A friend of mine has a picture on his kitchen wall with a saying that: 'Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realise they were the big things'. I love that! Enjoy the little things in life, because you will look back one day and discover that those were the big things. Well, in the kingdom of God the little things are interestingly the bigger things! When God was looking for a man whom He could show up before and call to be a deliverer for His people, He looked for someone that was busy about doing something, faithful in the little things. However, I don't want you to misunderstand what I'm saying, because even though he was busy - he dwelt in solitude.

Now, it may have been involuntary - in other words, he had to flee into the Midianite wilderness. Perhaps, that wouldn't have been his choice, living forty years out there in the desert. Nevertheless, it was part of God's plan to get him into a place where he was ready for God to reveal Himself in that manner.

"Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of Midian: and he sat down by a well" –Exodus 2:15

External and internal quietness are not the same, don't misunderstand me. Just because he was in a wilderness doesn't mean he was internally quiet before God. Yet, sometimes it is the case that outward quietness can creep into our soul, it can invade our hearts.

The idea of solitude is that there comes a suspension of all the distractions that surround us: distractions of the body, the mind, the soul. When those distractions are suspended, then we become more responsive to a deep work of God, to the voice of God in our hearts. You see it with David, a shepherd as well, most of the Psalms, or many of them anyway that we get, I believe we got them from his time when he was out as a shepherd.

One thing you can do to position yourself to experience God in a life-changing way is to de-clutter your life, an exclusive separation unto God that makes way for a godly encounter with the divine. This is the way the fathers went. A way that all those who experienced the Lord went. May the mercy of the Lord locate you in Jesus’ Precious Name! Amen!

DECLARE THIS:
The season of darkness is completely over in my life. Because I'm on the Lord's side, I dwell in His light. I'm full of life. I'm the light of the world. I walk in possibilities and exploits. I'm high and lifted up. I'm the hope of my generation. Because of me the world is blessed. I'm a great blessing. I'm the wisdom of God. People are coming from all the corners of the earth to hear from me. I speak the mind of God. I cannot fail. I prosper and succeed. My end is the glory. Hallelujah.

[As it is in Heaven 44]– SECURING ENCOUNTERS (Men that collaborated with God)

"Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants"–Psalms 119:88-91

We are examining Moses' life and we've realized that he had to first go through the wilderness experience prior to the divine encounter.

Secondly, as we find Moses here in verse 1 of Exodus 3, he was faithful in little things. Verse says: "He was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law", so it appears that he had no a flock of his own. He seems to have been content, maybe we might say humble enough, to just look after his father-in-law's flock without having to have anything of his own. It would also indicate, perhaps, that he was submissive to Jethro as his father-in-law. Or, to put it in another way, he had become or learned to be submissive to another's vision - that's an interesting thing. Or perhaps, he was learning to be a son before he would graduate as a father of the nation.

Do you know that servanthood precedes leadership? Now, there should be something called 'servant-leadership'. A leader should first be a servant- but we must have the ability to submit to someone else's vision who is leading for God, before we can take it on ourselves. Sometimes people who feel the calling of leadership cannot do that, they want to get at it right away - its interesting, isn't it? This was part of the road that paved the way to Moses' Divine encounter. It was incredible, it was a low road, a wilderness road, a road of humility, a road of submission.

"But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant"–Matthew 20:26-27

Interestingly, Moses was obviously about his daily business, wasn't he? He was faithful in the little things of everyday duties. I don't know what you think, but when I read the Bible, as far as I can see, God never calls lazy people. I'm thinking of Elisha, do you remember Elijah came down and put the mantle upon Elisha and anointed him as the next prophet, but what was he doing when he found him? He was out ploughing the field, he was busy. The call of God was on his life, but he was at work (1 kings 19:19).

I was reading today about Joshua, who came right after Moses to lead God's people into the promised land, but Joshua served Moses faithfully, by his side for years. That qualified him to lead God's people. Faithfulness in all prepares you for what God has in store for you tomorrow. Where do you find yourself in life? God can catch you right there as long as you remain committed to working and being faithful to the Lord. Be blessed!

DECLARE THIS:
The season of darkness is completely over in my life. Because I'm on the Lord's side, I dwell in His light. I'm full of life. I'm the light of the world. I walk in possibilities and exploits.

What I want to share with you this morning in particular from Moses and the burning bush are lessons that will help us on the way to encountering God. They are pointers that will position us for divine experience. At the end of the Torah, the first five Books of the Bible and the very end of the Book of Deuteronomy, the Bible says of Moses in summary: "But since then there has not arisen in Israel a prophet like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face"–Deuteronomy 34:10. That is the level of relationship Moses had with God. I think his encounter began there at the burning bush.

This lesson will teach you ten pointers from this story on how to position yourself for a divine encounter. To begin with, a wilderness preceded Moses' divine encounter. Moses takes it upon himself, with the arm of flesh, to bring deliverance to the Israelites when he was forty. He slays the Egyptian, buries him, and then he flees into the Midianite wilderness (Exodus 2:12). So at that moment, he knew he would be God's deliverer - but he faces disappointment. It is as if this man has missed his call, the call of God upon his life.

I believe his mother kept whispering in his ears- remember she was a nanny to him for Pharaoh's daughter. I believe again that she told him what his true identity was, and that God had called him, preserved him as a child for the deliverance of His people. But in the attitude of flesh, he tried to execute the will of God, and here he was: disappointed and dejected. However, the wilderness paved the way for his divine encounter. Is that not encouraging?

For forty years, he was a nobody who lived at the backside of the desert. But that forty years was a preparation for the forty years he would lead God's people through their wilderness. Many aged people would think: 'There isn't anything I could do for God now!' But isn't it wonderful that the promise of Pentecost from Joel 2 received in Acts chapter 2 is that young men will see visions, and old men will dream dreams. God is a non-respecter of age groups. When the Holy Spirit is poured out, it is upon all flesh.

Whatever you have been through in your wilderness experience has not been wasted time. God, as we see here can ignite your wilderness experience. In fact, like Moses, you will be able to minister to those who have been through your own journey. Forty years in his personal wilderness, to prepare him to lead God's people through forty years of their wilderness.

Be encouraged: a wilderness preceded Moses' Divine encounter - and that might be exactly where you find yourself but that can all change in a moment.

Two things are certain to happen to your life at a divine encounter. First, every yoke will be broken. The Power of God will take charge of the circumstances of your life. Certainly an encounter will cause a massive turnaround. No longer will you be tossed around and haunted by situations intending to turn your life, businesses and finances into a mess.

An encounter is all you need to turn every negative circumstance around. It can be a tumor in your body, a huddle at work, crises at home and brokenness of heart: an encounter with the Spirit of God will rub it all! Despite how long the circumstance has been or the degree of the situation, a divine encounter comes with a higher and greater power. No wonder Saul asked "who art thou Lord?". Every situation is bound to recognize the power locked in an encounter!

Secondly, a divine encounter will leave you with a fresh and deeper revelation of who God is and what He can do. Many people struggle to believe the word of God and to comprehend how He can work miracles and channel blessings into people’s lives–a divine encounter makes all the difference.

Paul who was Saul got to know Jesus in a fresh way and it changed the course of his destiny and life. You cannot meet heaven and be the same.

Genesis 1:26 reads, "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness..."

God made you as an original, not a copy of anyone. You are therefore your own self with a peculiar destiny. God made you originally in His likeness, full of dominion, success, blessings, good health, prosperity, and so elements such as poverty, sickness and among others are all foreign to you. You will perish if do not know the foreign elements in your life.

Hosea 4:6 says, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..."

If you haven't been living a life of an original, you will need to have a" divine encounter "with the originator and your life will never be the same again.

Material blessings are the by-products of divine encounters. It is good to have dreams and visions but it is more important to have an encounter with the Holy Spirit. Everything you can ever have is in Him. If you want to heal the sick, cast out devils, preach and do exploits you need to first have an encounter. However, desire precedes encounters; it doesn’t just happen. Every element in your life that does not belong there must be abated.

Once you have a divine encounter, your life will become a living testimony hence you will not need a witch doctor, or a traditional healer to help you secure a position or gain riches.

Life is not meant to be ordinary and to be a circle of repetition (even though certain things are constant). You were born for something bigger and better.

Understand that life is not just ordinary but has a supernatural side. It is that element (the supernatural) that is needed in your life to make all the differences or determine the course of life. You need to encounter heaven and experience the reality of Jesus. You may have been raised with the belief that, Jesus is a myth and a story of man, or that He has nothing to do with your life. I have a good news for you, Jesus is alive and real. The same way He revealed Himself to Moses that turned his life around, and made him a wonder unto his world is the same way He will visit you!

"And Moses said unto the LORD, O my LORD, I am not eloquent, neither heretofore, nor since thou hast spoken unto thy servant: but I am slow of speech, and of a slow tongue. And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD? Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say. And the LORD said unto Moses, When thou goest to return into Egypt, see that thou do all those wonders before Pharaoh, which I have put in thine hand: but I will harden his heart, that he shall not let the people go"–Exodus 10-12, 21

As you read on, I pray that you encounter the Holy Spirit, and that He collides with your life. Let also your life in the Spirit, family finances, businesses, works of your hands and all you do prosper. Your life cannot remain the same. When there is an encounter, movement begins. The things that were lurched onto you begin to fall off. Poverty will fall, bad luck will fall off and all curses will be broken.

Being Born again is okay; being filled with the Holy Ghost is also okay; but if you want to walk in a world of miracles and wonders, you need a divine encounter. Have you been told you're cursed or bewitched and will never amount to anything? Have you been cursed to die broke and poor, jobless, or even childless with no joy in your life? You could even be hanging degrees on your wail but no job, no progress. Take heart, you're about to experience a divine encounter. It is more powerful than any force that has been pulling you down. It is like the head-on collision of a heavy truck and a little car. After such a collision the little one would never look the same again.

A divine Collision leaves a life changing impact on you. Lift up your faith. Lift up your heart and put your trust in God! If you had thought there is no way out of your circumstance, cheer up, there is an answer and a way out–Divine Encounter!

DECLARE THIS:

Apostle Paul (then General Saul) was a persecutor of the Early Church and was against the ways of the Lord. He was an enemy of those that believed in Jesus Christ, he believed in God and thought he was doing God favour by persecuting anyone that believed in this so-called King of the Jews.

One day, something happened to this man. It was an accident, a divine accident, when he felt the Impact of this divine encounter, he fell from his horseback, the Bible says, "And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks"–Acts 9:3-5

He didn't have to be told who it was that had appeared to him. Instantly he got a deep revelation and said, "who are you, Lord? (Vrs 5)" Saul (then persecutor) knew it was God. When you have a divine encounter you will not need to be told that you have been touched by God; you will definitely know.

A divine encounter comes with a deeper revelation of hidden secrets and the breaking of curses. An encounter will change your thinking; the same man that was annihilating Christians became a disciple of Christ.

"And when he had received meat, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples which were at Damascus. And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. But all that heard him were amazed, and said; Is not this he that destroyed them which called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound unto the chief priests? But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews which dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ"–Acts 9:19-22

Have things been stagnant in your life for quite some time? Is your Business stuck? Finances, relationships and family void? If yes then read on Acts 9 and upwards and hear like unto Saul how your life and story too can be changed to become a success story! It starts with one thing–divine encounter!

We have examined how the great Patriarch Abraham encountered the Lord at the cool of the day. How that he was able to stand in the presence of God to intercede for the cities of S***m and Gomorrah. Now, we will take into consideration the five (5) major encounters he had with the Lord:

1) The First Encounter

God had spoken to Abraham (Genesis 12). The first encounter is very important. When you get saved, you encounter God and that is a time of transformation; things change in all dimensions of your life. God begins to give you His promises here. Sometimes you might not feel any changes in your physical body but it does in the spiritual.

Many Christians get stuck here. God gave Abraham an assurance of His promises at this time. He said to him;
1. Get out of your country.
2. I will make you a great nation.
3. I will bless you.
4. I will make your name great.
5. You shall be a blessing.
6. I will bless those who bless you
7. I will curse those who curse you.

The Blessedness of God will manifest automatically when you have an encounter with God. God does not release a Divine Encounter in your life for your own selfish gains. You are blessed to be a blessing. We live in a generation where people only want to be blessed for their gains. When you encounter God, your focus changes. When you have God, no sorcerer can touch you. The first encounter transforms your life.

"Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith"–Galatians 3:13-14

2) The Sacrificial Encounter

When God appeared to Abraham in Genesis 12:7, He gave Him a promise to give his descendants the land of Sichem. From there he began to build an altar and called upon the name of the Lord.
The second encounter is full of sacrifices. It must cost you for it to be a sacrifice. Abraham had to sacrifice; learn to sacrifice, not only for others but also for God. The work of God needs those men and women who can and will sacrifice. To go far, learn to value the altar of sacrifice. Blessings will come into your life through Divine Encounter.

3) Prosperity Encounter

In Genesis 13:1-2,13, we can tell there is a need for separation. Some people must get out of your life for God to bless you. The life of Abraham changed when he encountered God. Association is very important. ( see 2 Corinthians 6:17, 1 Corinthians 15:33). Set your priority in the Lord.

4) Priestly Encounter

We are not self-made. We pay our tithes because we recognize that whatever we have is not from our sweat. You can’t bless the greater, you Honour the greater. Paying tithe is a sign of honour. Abraham encountered the priest, Melchisedeck and gave one-tenth of all. (Genesis 14:17-21, Hebrews 7:1-7). When we truly encounter God, there is nothing we cannot give to Him (Ezekiel 44:30)

5) Graceful and Merciful Encounter

As you walk under God's mercies, God will multiply you exceedingly. God is looking for people who can walk with Him. Here, Abraham was commanded by God to circumcise every male in his house as a token of covenant between them. A covenant that would make Abraham, a father of many nations and exceedingly fruitful. This is indeed by the sure mercies of the Lord (Genesis 17:1-21).

Friend, desire today to walk with God, encounter His mercies and grace and your life will take a new dimension. Praise God.

In Genesis 18:20-21, we see that God is concerned about societal iniquity, here that of S***m and Gomorrah. By the same reasoning, God is concerned about iniquity in today’s cities and nations. And as with S***m and Gomorrah, no city or country can assume that it is exempt from God’s judgment unless it repents and turns to the Lord. It is very easy to forget that the Bible clearly teaches that there will be a Second Coming of Jesus, wherein “...In flaming fire [He will take] vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ”–2 Thessalonians 1:8, KJV

Abraham was moved to intercession for the residents of the cities God was about to judge. He specifically intreated the Lord on behalf of the cities’ few righteous citizens. Verses 25-26 of the same chapter show that God indeed spares the righteous while judging the wicked. The righteous are not subject to the same condemnation as the wicked. It is also interesting to note that it is the presence of the righteous among the wicked that can be a source of potential protection for those same wicked. If there were enough righteous, God would have spared the entire cities, including the righteous and wicked alike.

Abraham elsewhere was called the “friend of God”–James 2:23. But he never let that go to his head. Here we see him remaining humble and self-effacing before the Lord (Genesis 18:27-33. Another illustration of this would be when Jesus called His disciples “friends” (John 15:15). But they continued humbly to address Him as “Lord”.

I am impressed by Abraham’s persistence, his importunity. He asked, would the Lord spare the cities for 45 righteous? for 40? for 30? for 20? for 10? Our Lord Jesus Christ taught this attitude as essential for effective prayer— “...[8] because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.”–Luke 11:5-9.

Amazingly in verse 32, the Lord promised to spare an entire city if He found even ten righteous persons there! This is a startling reminder of how important it is that we be what Jesus has called us to be — the light of the word and the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13-14).

We have seen a treasure trophy of divine insights from just one person's encounter with God, that of Abraham meeting “the Lord” on the plains of Mamre. Just imagine the blessings that we can similarly experience, if we devote ourselves to meeting with God often in His word, in prayer, and in praise and worship. Let’s purpose to do it! Our lives will be dramatically better as a result. Receive more Grace!

Hallelujah.
