A Word to the Young Preacher
Young preacher, guard your heart diligently, for ministry is a divine calling, not a platform for selfish ambition. Never allow greed to make you reap where you have not sown, or covet what God has entrusted to another. Do not stretch out your hand to forcefully take what does not belong to you, for whatever is obtained through manipulation, betrayal, rebellion, or dishonor cannot carry the lasting blessing of God.
Never betray the hands that once lifted you, rebel against the voice that nurtured you, or trample upon the shoulders that carried you when you had neither direction nor confidence in yourself. If you once called someone "father," let your conduct continue to reflect honor, even if seasons change. Spiritual fathers are not perfect, but honor remains a kingdom principle.
Ministry is not a race of speed but a journey of preparation. God's process may seem slow, but it never arrives late. Do not seek shortcuts to prominence, because shortcuts often cut destinies short. Many have rushed into positions their character could not sustain, and what took years to build was destroyed in moments because they bypassed God's refining process.
Be patient with God's timing. Promotion comes neither from the east nor from the west, but from the Lord. The God who called you is able to establish you without your resorting to manipulation, competition, or rebellion.
If you think these words are exaggerated, ask those who have walked the road before you. Learn from the victories and failures of your fathers. It is the mark of wisdom to avoid the pit that another has already fallen into. Only a zealous fool ignores the lessons of history and repeats the same mistakes with even greater intensity.
Remember, a true son does not build his future by destroying his father's legacy. Honor never diminishes greatness—it prepares you for greater responsibility. God exalts those who remain faithful, humble, teachable, and loyal through every season.
Preach Christ more than yourself. Pursue character more than charisma. Seek faithfulness above fame. Desire God's approval above human applause. Let your life be marked by integrity, humility, patience, and unwavering honor. In the end, it is not those who rise the fastest who finish the strongest, but those who remain steadfast in truth, walk in love, and endure God's process until the very end.
"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time." 1 Peter 5:6-7
