As a pastor, never allow the spirit of favoritism to take root in your heart. It quietly corrupts discernment and damages the witness of the Church.

Scripture is unmistakable: “God shows no partiality” (Romans 2:11). And James warns us plainly that showing favoritism is sin and contradicts the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ (James 2:1–4).

Pastoral authority is not proven by proximity to a few, but by faithful care for all. The flock is not divided into favorites and forgotten ones; every soul carries equal value before God. When leaders elevate some and overlook others, they misrepresent the heart of the Shepherd who left the ninety-nine to seek the one (Luke 15:4).

Favoritism breeds offense, discouragement, and division.
Impartial love builds trust, unity, and spiritual health.

As shepherds, we are called to mirror Christ, who welcomed the weak, corrected the proud, and served without preference. Leadership in the Kingdom is measured not by closeness to power, but by faithfulness, humility, and fairness.

Guard your heart.
Shepherd with equity.
And remember: the people you honor privately shape the culture you lead publicly.

Glory to God 🙌
