Thanksgiving Service
Cladded in their beautiful badge cloth also called "kontomire", Delegates of the Western Presbytery Women fellowship joined the PCG Ebenezer Congregation, Sekondi on Sunday 10th May, 2026 to climax their 38th Annual Delegate’s Conference.
Preaching the Sermon for the day, the Western Presbytery Chairperson, Rev. Dr. Joseph Apea Assamoah congratulated the Women's Fellowship for a successful Conference and used the occasion to wish all the women in the Western Presbytery a Happy Mother’s Day.
Drawing lessons from the Bible reading for the day, he emphasized on the important role women had played and are still playing in the Presbyterian Church and in Christianity as a whole. He drew attention to Ruth, who despite being a Moabite had identified a significant character of Dependability in her mother in-law, which was worth emulating. This made her resolve to follow her where ever she goes at a time that she didn’t stand a chance of gaining anything. He reiterated that Lois and Eunice were also other examples of women who could be classified as dependable builders due to the sincere faith inculcated into Timothy.
Rev. Dr. Apea Assamoah reminded all gathered that our daily Christian life is a building process, our actions and inactions showed the kind of materials we are building with. Whoever listens to God’s word and practice it is the one who builds on a solid rock, which is Jesus Christ. He pleaded with the gathering not to let any setbacks in life derail their trust in Jesus but rather continue to remain steadfast in Him. The Chairperson charged the women to let the Vision of the Women’s Fellowship which they always recite during meetings reflect in their lifestyles at home.
The very colorful occasion was graced by the presence of the Queen mothers of Essikado, Nana Kodu and Nana Akoba II of Agona Nkwanta traditional area, sister churches in the Sekondi municipality and some opinion leaders.
The Chairperson prayed for the Presbytery Executives of the Women’s Fellowship and encouraged them to work harder to leave a good legacy in the Presbytery.
Supporting the Chairperson at the 38th Conference of the women’s fellowship were the Lay Rep. Mr. Boakye Boateng, Rev Amanamah Kobbinah Assuah (Sekondi District Minister), Rev. Augustine Nartey (Region Manager of Schools, Western and Western North) and many others.
A key highlight at the Service was the presentation of a Citation and parcel by the Women Fellowship Executive to Mrs. Shirley Boatemaah Ofosu who has supported the Fellowship by selling their souvenirs for over Eight (8) years at the Presbytery level without receiving any financial benefits. This dedication and commitment is very commendable and we encourage others to also serve in diverse capacities for the course of Christ and for the furtherance of the group they belong.
May the Lord continue to strengthen the Presbytery Women’s Fellowship to discharge their duties well as the church prepares to celebrate its Bicentennial anniversary in the year 2028.
