Importance of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ

Death of Jesus Christ:
1. Atonement for sin: "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree" (1 Peter 2:24). Jesus' death provided redemption from sin.
2. Sacrifice for humanity: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends" (John 15:13). Jesus' death demonstrated God's love.

Resurrection of Jesus Christ:
1. Victory over death: "Death has been swallowed up in victory" (1 Corinthians 15:55). Jesus' resurrection demonstrated His power.
2. Hope for believers: "If we believe that Jesus died and rose again" (1 Thessalonians 4:14). The resurrection gives us hope for eternal life.

Significance:

The Burden Of Leading People

Numbers 11:16-17
And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee. And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

One of the most difficult tasks in life is to lead people. The Bible teaches us that Moses delivered the Israelites from bo***ge. However he had a difficult time handling them. The job that Moses did is the job that all Pastor's have to do. God graciously gave Moses spectacular and sensational miracles. These signs and wonders helped to establish his authority over God's flock. In spite of this, the burden of leading the people was very heavy on Moses.

When God wants to use you to minister to a large number of people, He will expect you to share the burden of His divine call upon your life.

Choose Your Mentors Carefully

A mentor is someone who is an advisor, guide, counsellor, teacher and tutor to you. Your mentor is a picture of your future. There are several ways to predict the future. One of the ways is to simply look at someone's mentor. If you look at Joshua you could predict his future by looking at his mentor Moses. You could predict the future of Peter, James and John by looking at their mentor Jesus. You could predict the future of Elisha by looking at his mentor Elijah. There are several people who have mentored me.

There are some things I would not like to have in my life but I see them in some of the people who are ahead of me. Because of this, I carefully choose who mentors me. Someone who has lived long, achieved a lot, worked faithfully for the Lord and stayed successfully married would be a good mentor.
