Beloved, have you ever been in a situation where words spoken in haste could have changed everything?
In a world where emotions reign, impulsive words can cause lasting pain. But wisdom whispers, 'Wait and see', and character shines, setting souls free.
*THE MESSAGE: BEAUTY WITH BRAINS & GOOD CHARACTER*
Beloved, Abigail was not a main player in the history of Israel, but when you read the account of 1 Samuel chapter 25, she had an instinctive skill for diplomacy and peace-making. A woman of beauty and brains, a woman of good conscious and good character, who could diffuse a dangerous situation between hot-headed men.
Beloved, it's hard to imagine such a shrewd woman choosing marriage to Nabal, and indeed, in those days, parents, not lovers, arranged marriages. Nabal was rich, which probably influenced Abigail's parents. She, however, knew her husband as a fool, and this account characteristically portrays him as rude, drunk, stupid, and a fool.
Though Abigail may have been trapped in a bad marriage, she was hardly helpless. When her husband mistreated David, and when David sent men to them, Abigail rose to take decisive action. She saved the day for her people, as well as for David, who had lost his temper and was about to take vengeance he would doubtlessly regret.
A man of passion, David could lose his temper, but he had the courage to back down when challenged with good sense. He thanked Abigail warmly and made a mental note about this remarkable woman. When her husband died a short time later, David asked the widow to be his wife. Without hesitation, without tears or mourning, Abigail agreed, though David was still an outlaw. Abigail sensed that a great future awaited him.
As a result of her wise decision, she became forever linked to Israel's greatest king. Beloved, in the story of Abigail, we will learn that as a good and intelligent woman and a person with good character, what you need to do is see the future. Your character is the greatest currency you have, and you must use it well. Yes, appearance and looks are good, but a person with good character, a person with brains, with intellect, and with the fear of the Lord, a virtuous woman will always be with people of honor.
Beloved again, no matter how angry you are, when someone speaks sense to you, listen to the voice of sense, not the voice of rage or emotions. (1 Samuel 25:32-35).
God bless you
