Offinso Partners in Sustainable Development

The project started in July 2017. Trainees at Methodist Rural Technology Facility in Adukro Offinso, Ghana, worked together with trainees from Bildungswerkstatt GMHütte, Germany. The team developed over two months a first pyrolising stove model that enables to cook efficiently on a biogas flame, reduces the amount of firewood needed and produces less smoke than conventional open fires. The long term plan for the project is to establish a center for traineeship on metal processing and entrepreneurship in Adukro-Offinso. Trainees should be encouraged and equipped with necessary skills needed for starting their own businesses. Therefore, regular trainings on business, entrepreneurship, finances and marketing should be integrated into the training program at Methodist Rural Technology Facility. The stove project should attract more trainees that are interested in this field of work so that M.R.T.F. gains a higher number of participants for their trainee program. Thanks to the yearly exchange of trainees (Ghana-Germany), participants that show high potential in entrepreneurship get the opportunity to gain new insights into intercultural teamwork and into their field of work from a different perspective. The second exchange within the stove project finds place in July 2018. For this year the focus during the teamwork between the ghanaien and german trainees is on finding solutions to improve the stoves. They look on the different needs of people who cook for domestic as well as commercial use. Another part of their work is to figure out new possibilites of fuel.
